Skrillex’s feel-good remix of the classic track, “The Island Pt. 1 (Dawn),” is the perfect way to start off the summer!

Keeping with his tradition of only dropping a track every few months, Skrillex has finally given us something new with his remix of Pendulum‘s “The Island Pt. 1 (Dawn)”. To be completely honest, we were expecting more of a bass-heavy banger with this one but can’t complain at all about his captivating, melodic take on the track.

Many in the dance community have loved Pendulum’s “The Island, Pt.1 (Dawn)” for years since it dropped in May of 2010. The iconic track has made a massive imprint on dance music, making its way into countless sets across genres, so it’s only right that our EDM grandfather Skrillex gave the timeless melody a new spin. Part of Pendulum’s The Reworks album that’s been steadily dropping tracks for months, this one is a must-listen.

In signature Skrillex fashion, he gives the track a reggae twist throughout the verses and then pulls out a light-hearted dubstep drop, quickly cutting with clean, impeccable production only he can deliver. As in any Skrillex track, this remix has a multitude of elements that keep you on your toes, no drop sounding the same as the next. If you listen closely, you’ll hear dazzling melodies interwoven throughout the track, floating through and complementing the main tune.

Listen to Pendulum – “The Island, Pt.1 (Dawn)” [Skrillex Remix] on Spotify:

The remix flows beautifully and is sure to put a smile on your face! While I’m always hoping for another “Purple Lamborgini” or “Wild For The Night”, I love when he shows his softer side with more feel-good tracks as well. Even though the track might not be “heavy”, per se, it still has a ton of bass, horns, and drums that keep it upbeat and enticing. It’s always a good day when Skrillex blesses us with a new track, keep ’em coming Sonny!
