For this week's Throwback Thursday lets "Fall In Love Too Fast" with one of our favorite artists, GRiZ.

For this week’s Throwback Thursday, let’s “Fall In Love Too Fast” with one of our favorite artists, GRiZ.

It was the year 2012 when my friend Brad was helping me install a sound system in my car and he had me listen to “Where’s the Love” by GRiZ. When I heard the song, I was melting into my seat and flying in the sky like the couple on the album cover. That was the first time I was introduced to GRiZ and I fell in love way too fast! While that’s not the subject for this week’s Throwback Thursday, it got me binge-listening to the rest his Mad Liberation album. By the time I got to track eight, “Fall In Love Too Fast”, I was already madly in love with his music.

I’m a sucker for live instruments coming from a musical background myself. When you combine that with funky, jazzy electronic music, it’s almost guaranteed that I will like it. Grant Kwiecinski, also known as GRiZ, is known for playing live saxophone while he DJs on stage. With that, he creates oh-so-funky electro-soul, hip-hop, jazzy vibes, and bass-heavy beats. Not to mention that my father plays the saxophone, so I have a special connection with that instrument and jazz music in general. More than that though, there’s something truly unique about GRiZ’s sound.

The track starts off with a sample from Chet Baker’s “I Fall In Love Too Easily” paired with jazzy piano and a drum beat that leaves you bobbing your head to the song. Dan Hacker, better known as Muzzy Bearr, also provided his talents with live soulful guitar notes to add a bit of a blues feel. It’s all around just a beautiful track, how can you not fall in love?

GRiZ – “Fall In Love Too Fast” Lyrics:

I fall in love too easily
I fall in love too fast
I fall in love too terribly hard
For love to ever last

My heart should be well-schooled
‘Cause I’ve been fooled in the past
And still I fall in love too easily
I fall in love too fast

With a father who is a musician, Julia grew up surrounded by music. While trying out every instrument that peaked her interest, piano, drums, guitar, ukulele, and DAW software holds a special spot in her heart. Attending music events whether it be an open mic night, club, or a festival is one of her passions. As a child, her parents took her to concerts, but at age 13 is when she went to her first one on her own. Since then she has been to many different events in all genres. In 2008, she went to her first electronic music festival, Monster Massive. She's been to smaller club events, but nothing like a massive. After seeing the go-go dancers at Monster Massive, she knew that's what she wanted to do one day. In 2010, she started go-go dancing at smaller clubs and eventually became a performer for Insomniac Events where she performed with them for a year. Experiencing a festival from on the stage is an incredible feeling. There is so much powerful energy that reminds Julia just how much music means to her. While she doesn't dance anymore, she is currently training in pole and aerial arts in hopes to perform at events again someday. Being able to create and share the beauty of music and arts is something that Julia wants to put her energy into. The music scene has changed her life for the better and shaped her into who she is today.
