Mija is Bringing Her FK A Genre Tour to The Fonda in LA!

Mija and her FK A Genre Tour return to LA to once again unite EDM kids and pop queens alike!

If you’ve heard of Los Angeles-based DJ Amber Giles aka Mija, then you’ve probably heard of her notorious genre-defying tour, FK A Genre. And for those of you who haven’t, last year the Phoenix-born DJ mystified audiences with a tour chock-full of special guests who played everything but what they’re known for, hence the name of the tour.

I, like the rest of the world, loved the idea but unfortunately never got a chance to catch one of the shows for myself. Now Mija and her FK A Genre are back with an equally full special guest list and I’ll finally get to experience her genre-mixing talents live this Saturday, December 12 at The Fonda Theater in Los Angeles.

Joining Mija will be Tennyson, Kelli Schaefer, and more so make sure to grab your tickets HERE before they’re gone!

Stream Mija “Bad For U” (feat. Kelli Schaefer) on SoundCloud:

Since moving to Los Angeles, Mija has cultivated and grown her sound to include a little bit of every place she’s been. She named her FK A Genre after her own style, which is known for being a unique synthesis of both electronic and pop stylings. This could be attributed to the professional vocal training she had growing up, in addition to her being a member of her school’s choir before she quit to promote raves in her hometown. Basically, I aspire to be Amber Giles.

Not only is Mija bringing back her FK A Genre tour, she’s also giving back by partnering with Red Bull Sound Select and the charity My Friend’s Place to provide homeless youths shelter in Hollywood. Attendees of the show will be able to purchase T-shirts for a $10 minimum donation, all of which will be donated directly to the organization. Additionally, there will be a sock drive where people will be able to donate any pair of new socks or underwear, so make sure to bring a pair to the show!

Mija’s FK a Genre sound and tour has drawn in people of all musical tastes and preferences, for it discriminates against no genre. Those who attend will be treated to a surprise medley of house, trap, hip-hop, pop, and more, so make sure not to miss this second opportunity to experience it for yourself!

Sydney Grant

Sydney attributes her love for music from her mom, who insisted on playing The Foo Fighters and The White Stripes rather than Kiss FM whenever she drove carpool and agreed to allow Sydney to attend Coachella in the eighth grade as long as she could go with her. That first festival only greater affirmed Sydney’s passion for the scene, but it was not until 2013 when she attended Swedish House Mafia’s One Last Tour concert in Los Angeles that she discovered electronic music. She was hooked instantly and has since attended a total of 23 festivals, with countless concerts in between. Sydney’s favorite artists include RL Grime, Jauz, Jai Wolf, Louis The Child, Slander, Bearson and Big Gigantic but she is constantly on the look out for new music and artists to dance to. When she’s not scouring the internet for new tracks or grooving at a concert, Sydney studies Journalism and Biology full-time at the University of Oregon.
