#TBT || Above & Beyond – Thing Called Love

This week’s #TBT is Above & Beyond’s massive tune “Thing Called Love”!

Released five years ago in 2011, Above & Beyond‘s massive tune “Thing Called Love” was the second single off their well-loved album ‘Group Therapy’. Containing powerful lyrics and one hell of a great beat, this song speaks true to so many people who continually play this track out today. The vocals from Richard Bedford are simply stunning and definitely strike home even today. If you have never been to a Group Therapy show from the trio, it is something that you should definitely make an effort to do. It is one of the most positive and inspiring things in the dance music scene, and there is just a different level of connection between Above & Beyond and the crowd than nearly anyone else I’ve ever seen. I have seen Above & Beyond more times than I can count, so call me biased, but hearing this track get played at festivals and shows by them all over has been a great moment each and every time.

My most recent memories of them include their performances at Acoustic II and EDC Las Vegas, both were special moments to me. Catching them play it in their Acoustic II set was a dream as well, as they altered the song perfectly to fit the live orchestra elements. At EDC Las Vegas, I was with friends and Above & Beyond paid tribute to those who were killed in the shooting in Orlando. Typing #OrlandoStrong on the video board during the track, they went on to type in #LoveWins, which is fitting now more than ever.

I chose this song today, because I want to push out positive vibes with all the negativity surrounding the current events in the world today. I hope this track speaks to you, and reminds you to not forget about a thing called love.

Above & Beyond – Thing Called Love – Lyrics

There was a time
There was a place
But there was fear inside
A witty lie to save my face
The parachute of pride
To cross the line takes a tiny step
But will this spark cause the bridge to burn
My fear entwined with my regret
I’ll be the path for safe return

So here we are
All just the same
But you will never know
My secret plan
How close we came
To share another role
I haven’t lost my only chance
To tell you how I feel inside
Is it just me
I’d like to know
Or are we all just a little blind?

There’s a thing called love
That we all forget
And it’s a wasted love
That we all regret
You live your life just once
So don’t forget about a thing called love
Don’t forget, forget about a thing called love

There’s a thing called love
That we all forget
And it’s a wasted love
That we all regret
You live your life just once
So don’t forget about a thing called love
Don’t forget, forget about a thing called love
