Where was your first electronic music event?
Glowrage in Mobile, Alabama 4 years ago. I had just moved back in town from Maryland and I didn’t know about the EDM scene here. It changed my life and I saw my first ever light show there.
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
My old high school buddy Dchap (David Chapman) he hit me up not long after I had moved back and asked me if I wanted to go out to an EDM event. After that night and feeling the love that everyone showed, I never looked back. That was when I started getting into EDM.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
Well about a year and a few months ago I met this girl at Mobicon (a cosplay event in Mobile) she had never been to an EDM event and I showed her my LED gloves and she absolutely loved them. I took her to her first event and we had an amazing time. That night is so special to me because that is the night I met my rave partner and my soul mate.
What is your favorite festival or event?
I have to say my favorite festival that I have been to so far has to be Euphoria Music and Arts Festival in Texas. It is a great 3-day event with an amazing view and detailed stages. The thing I love most about it has to be the nature. The festival grounds has a river running beside it and lots of trees, perfect shade for the hot summer days.
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
Oh man, this is a hard one. I would say if I had to pick one song that was my favorite overall it would have to be “Sad Machine” by Porter Robinson. The reason I say that is because last year at Voodoo Fest in New Orleans, Louisiana I got to see Porter Robinson play live and I threw the best light show of my life to that song. His entire set was a really emotional set and that’s the kind of music I glove to the best.
When I’m feeling the music especially really emotional stuff is when I can weave a story with just my hands and my lights. It puts me in a mode where I can bring the music to life because I’m putting all of my emotion that the music brings out on me and to my light shows.
Who are your favorite artists?
This list is probably going to be longer than the entire article itself.
Flux Pavilion, Seven Lions, Deadmau5, Zomboy, Zeds Dead, lost Kings, BTSM, Pretty Lights, Boogie T, and I’m gonna cut it off right there because if I keep going I’ll be here typing all night.
What are your favorite genres?
It really depends on my mood and what I feel like gloving to at the moment but I have three main ones I stick to. If I want to let loose and go wild for the night I usually go with dubstep. If I’m feeling more in thought about something or I just want to relax I usually listen to house. As for the last genre, that one is going to be trap and that’s when I get the itch for it. These are the three main genres that I stick to when I’m gloving because those are the ones that I throw my best shows to.
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
I feel that I am more of a friendly face in the crowd. Every show you see me at, about 90% of the time I’ll have my gloves on and be walking around giving shows to random people or just practicing to the music that is playing. I have attended a few different festivals as well as 50 + shows here in my local area. I’m pretty good at drawing a crowd and getting new people into the scene and making sure that they have a great first time.
I hope that everyone gets to go to a festival or an EDM event at least once in their lifetime to see what the scene is really about. For me, the scene is about the love for each other as well as the music and showing each and every person that you connect with the Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect that flows through our scene.
