What was your first electronic music event?
My first electronic music event was seeing Illenium at the Novo theater, in Downtown Los Angeles. Keep on eye on that guy, he’s amazing.
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
My best friends and my brother. They were so into the scene, and I’ve listened to “EDM” since 2009, so I kind of finally gave in. Best decision of my life so far.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
Hard Summer 2016, Ekali. Green Tent. The atmosphere in that tent was ridiculous. There were mosh pits inside and outside of the tent. There are times where the crowd doesn’t click with one another or with the artist on the stage. Right when Ekali came out, though, he had the crowd in the palm of his hands. He just kept playing banger after banger, I was literally cramping on my sides because of how hard I was going. I had to keep going because the crowd, the vibes, everyone was just so into it. If I looked left, it would be a twerk fest with a bunch of girls and even dudes. If I looked right, there would be an intense mosh pit. This was also my first festival and seeing this just made me love the scene at a whole different level.
I’m gonna be specific now, on my one special moment now before I ramble on about how turnt that tent was.
When Ekali played What So Not’s “Innerbloom” remix, my whole crew looked at each other and we like all clicked. We were all peaking at the time as well, so this was the time where we expressed our love for each other, full bromo. The thing is we’ve never really opened up to each other after all these years, until that very moment. Right before the drop came, we did the cliché thing where we put our arms on each other’s shoulder and turned up.
Nothing can replicate Ekali Green Tent 2k16.
What is your favorite festival or event?
My favorite festival of all time is Nocturnal 2016. Everything about it was perfect to me. The area was perfect, the vibes were perfect, and of course the music was perfect. Minus the mass arrests that happened on the last day, that was totally uncalled for. I’ve never experienced so much love and good vibes, much love to the plur family.
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
RÜFÜS – Innerbloom (What So Not Remix)
The build up and the lyrics get me really emotional. Then that sick drop comes out? Eargasm. It really gets me hyped up whenever I’m about to do my last set during a workout. Also referring back to my favorite moment from an event, it made me realize how much my friends and brother mean to me as corny as that sounds.
Who are your favorite artists?
In no particular order: Louis The Child, Skrillex, Ekali, Boombox Cartel, Porter Robinson, Illenium, k?d, NGHTMRE, Vincent, Odesza, and of course RL Grime.
What are your favorite genres?
I’m relatively still new to the scene, so I’m still having a hard time distinguishing which genre is which in the EDM world.
But I’m going to have to go with: Trap, Progressive House, Dubstep, Indietronica, Future Bass, and Electro House.
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
Lol, I’m the bass head that occasionally mosh pits whenever a really hard drop comes on. I’m definitely frowned upon in the electronic music community, but it’s who I am. I enjoy it a lot and I’m going to continue to enjoy it till I get sick of it lmao.
Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself for the readers?
I’m trying to expand my love for EDM. So if you have any music you’d like to share with me message me on Reddit: ChrisFDOT or the /aves discord group chat. No dick pics plsandty.
