Ahead of PEEKABOO’s upcoming album, Are We Dreaming?, he’s dropped his latest collab with Skrillex and Flowdan, which also features Fireboy DML.
When PEEKABOO, Skrillex, and Flowdan joined forces on “Hydrate” featuring BEAM and “BADDERS” with G-REX, their fans likely didn’t expect that they had another trick up their sleeve. Their original collaboration was the raucous single “6 Million,” which also features Fireboy DML.
“6 Million” cannot be easily categorized, blending elements of classic dubstep and grime to yield a whole greater than the sum of their parts. PEEKABOO and Skrillex opted to go relatively minimal on the sound design, giving Flowdan and Fireboy DML’s impassioned lyricism center stage in the arrangement.
“[‘6 Million’] was actually the first song I worked on with Skrillex and Flowdan, even before ‘Hydrate,’” PEEKABOO wrote in social media posts promoting the release. “Sonny and I were sending ideas back and forth and the melody just materialized, then we all got together and finished in London. This one is for the culture.”
The track drops as PEEKABOO is gearing up for the release of his upcoming album, Are We Dreaming?, on January 26. The aforementioned collaboration, “Hydrate,” appeared on Skrillex’s groundbreaking 2023 album, Quest For Fire, and “BADDERS” was on the tracklist for PEEKABOO’s album of the same year, Eyes Wide Open.
Meanwhile, PEEKABOO will resume touring next weekend with a performance at Tahoe Live in Olympic Valley, California on December 12.
