Devin Wild Uncovers A Harder Edge 'Among The Noise' On New EP

Dutch artist Devin Wild has consistently been at the top of the hardstyle scene, evolving his signature style with every release. Throughout the years, fans have come to know and love the melodic side of the producer, as he’s created some of the most memorable tracks in the genre’s history. Artists change and grow, however. Devin Wild is clearly no exception as he’s presented his latest body of work, the Among The Noise EP, released on Scantraxx.

Over four blistering tracks, Devin Wild presents a stark change in his musical direction as he blurs the line between traditional hardstyle and the contemporary style of hard techno. First, Devin Wild introduces listeners to this new world with with a cinematic intro on “Understanding.”

Then, he teams up once again with Nathalie Blue on “Chaos (Always Comes),” injecting the record with rolling basslines and punchy kicks that ride behind monstrous screeches. “Dance With Madness” follows, and while it employs melodic elements, the track is anything but. Angelic vocals precede massive drops, truly riding the fine line of madness and brilliance.

“Hit Back” is the third track on the Among The Noise EP. Just like the others, it opts to highlight the harder side of Devin Wild as he masterfully combines technical production with artistic excellence.

Rounding out the EP is a brand-new record that is industrial and fierce at its core, “Silent (Left The System).” As it’s the final dance track, Devin Wild ties this new chapter together with what he’s been teasing on the latest releases: a brand-new edge that show’s he’s more than the euphoric master we’ve known his whole career. The cinematic outro, “Among The Noise,” ends the EP with a chilling voice saying “Let’s do this again.”

The Among The Noise EP does its job well as Devin Wild highlights a new side of his project that he’s hinted at in the past but never fully explored. Although the new EP doesn’t include the euphoric melodies or feel-good lyrics Devin Wild is known for, he stays true to his vision by using his signature sounds to bring life to a new era in his journey. Overall, I believe that this EP serves as one of the best examples of hybrid energy, masterfully bridging the gap that is desperately needed between hardstyle and hard techno.
