Crumb Pit Puts Their Diverse Sound on Display on ‘Crumbcore’ EP

Crumb Pit takes their talents to Dim Mak to release the Crumbcore EP, featuring five tracks that represent the duo’s chaotic yet intentional energy at its core.

As drum and bass continues to reel in new listeners by the day, artists within the genre have found themselves innovating to bring forth new, dynamic soundscapes for fans to feast their ears on. One duo that’s beginning to make waves is Crumb Pit, two best friends—Matt Barri and MC Joe Orlov—who met at ICON Collective and have since set out to shake up the scene while sharpening their own identity.

Crumb Pit has been on quite a ride since dropping their debut releases on Space Yacht Records in 2023. Follow-up tracks and appearances on MONTA helped push them forward, and now they’ve caught the ear of Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak for their latest EP, Crumbcore. This five-track release from Crumb Pit sees the duo dabble in everything from drum and bass to UK Garage, showcasing the dynamic range they’re bringing to the scene.

“Don’t Hit My Line” leads the way on Crumbcore, offering breaks and layers of distortion that pair perfectly with the vocals from Orlov, which even include a snippet from one of their performances. This one sets the tone for what’s to come, and Crumb Pit punches you straight in the face with a dose of energy on the next up, “No Crumbs.” There’s an onslaught of jump-up energy that fills the soundscape throughout the track, stoking the fire and keeping your head bopping right along with it.

Crumb Pit turn the dial down a notch on “Heart Already Broken” as they team up with Amanda Joy for a vibe-inducing ride filled with bumpin’ UKG elements that make it a perfect fit for those late nights at the club. While you do get another dose of hard-hitting drum and bass on “Lights, Camera, Action” for added effect, the more soothing nature of their sound returns in full on “I’m 2 Weak.” The closing tune brings Emilia Ali into the mix, adding extra emotion and a pop flourish while further showcasing the duality of Crumb Pit’s sound.

This collection of songs represents who we are at our core. We were lucky to collaborate with two incredible vocalists, Emilia Ali and Amanda Joy, who helped shape the sound and emotion of this EP. We hope that anyone who listens to Crumbcore gets a true sense of what Crumb Pit is all about.
