It’s been over a year since Dimension last released music, but now, the wait is over.

October has been a massive month for drum and bass, marked by a wave of major announcements and new releases from some of the genre’s biggest names. The latest of those comes from Dimension, who surprised fans on Wednesday as they opened social media apps and were met with the exciting news that three new songs would be in their hands just two days later.

Dimension’s year has been packed with milestones, including a major North American headline tour, numerous festival appearances, and being the first DnB artist to play EDC Las Vegas’ mainstage in over a decade. But he’s also been quietly crafting new music behind the scenes. The last Dimension release came in August 2024, when he collaborated with Sub Focus and NGHTMRE on “Angel.” Now, he’s delivered his latest effort, the Hardest D Style EP, marking the end of the Dimension drought and the beginning of this new era of his music.

“Bass Thump” and “London Sound” embrace that 4×4 style that has become one of his most recognizable sounds since releasing “Offender” in 2021 and “Satellite” with Alison Wonderland in 2024. Elements of Dimension’s iconic remix of Marlon Hoffstadt’s “It’s That Time” are teased in “Bass Thump,” with the same sharp “go” vocal sample punctuating the track’s build up. The lyrics “Let the bass thump / feel the kick groove / get your hands up / I wanna see you move” invigorate listeners through the build before the song drops into a surge of pounding rhythm.

“London Sound,” builds gradually over 40 seconds, tension mounting with each layer until the vocals break through: “Are you ready for the London sound? / We’re gonna take you to the underground / It’s time to take you to the underground.” The moment the final line lands, the song erupts into a dark, pulsating beat that transports listeners straight into a smoky warehouse, surrounded by flashing strobes and the relentless thrum of bass echoing through the air.

The EP closes out with “Blow My Whistle” featuring DJ Aligator. The track’s distinct whistle sounds serve as its cornerstone, cutting through the syncopated beats with flair. While “Bass Thump” and “London Sound” lean into its angsty intensity, this track is pure fun, built for getting down, dancing, and reveling in the carefree spirit of raving.

Dimension has promised new music soon, so fans no longer have to worry about waiting months more. Until then, pass the time by listening to the Hardest D Style EP on repeat on your preferred streaming platform, and follow Dimension on social media to see when he releases new music next.

Jaclyn Sersland

Jaclyn’s journey as a raver began in 2022, but her obsession with music dates back to her middle school days as an angsty emo kid. A firm believer in the emo to raver pipeline, she has found a strong sense of community in the rave scene united by a common ethos of PLUR and a shared love for heavy basslines. A longtime writer and now Master’s in Journalism student at Georgetown University, Jaclyn is passionate about using her voice to spotlight the EDM scene. In particular, she enjoys writing about drum and bass, the number 1 favorite genre of hers, although her music taste spans wide so you will catch her byline on many types of stories. Her favorite artists are Andromedik, Sub Focus, Dimension, GRiZ, Oliverse, Illenium, Grabbitz, Zedd, Basstripper, Subsonic, and more.
