Skrillex and Chris Lake have been rinsing “LA NOCHE” in their sets for months. Finally, both artists’ fans can listen to it on demand.
Skrillex and Chris Lake collaborating on a track is peak 2025 energy. We’ve done away with labels. Fewer rules dictate what you can or cannot do. And with the help of Korean-Argentine artist ANITA B QUEEN, they’ve broken down what remaining walls remained between house and bass music with the club-ready single “LA NOCHE.” It’s out now via Black Book Records.
Skrillex (real name Sonny Moore) may have revisited his brostep bass growls of old in his April album FUS, but he opted for a subtler approach while working alongside Lake. “LA NOCHE” is house music through and through, pairing the former artist’s keen ear for stereo imaging with the latter’s sixth sense for what moves a dancefloor. ANITA B QUEEN’s sultry vocal ties it all together with Latin flair that will expose the track to new listeners.
Black Book Records was launched by Chris Lake in 2017, which explains the clear house music structure of “LA NOCHE.” What started as a label intended to afford Lake more creative freedom grew into an imprint that has provided a platform for music by artists like Green Velvet, Mochakk, and Cloonee. Importantly, it also gave a home to Lake’s long-awaited debut album, Chemistry, in July.
That’s not to say this is the first time Moore has released a track like “LA NOCHE.” His 2023 album, Quest For Fire, saw him innovate across a wide swath of the electronic music spectrum, and a handful of its songs could have been categorized as house.
