Bella Renee Drops Off New DnB EP on Dim Mak

From being a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist to DJing and producing, Bella Renee is an artist who seemingly does it all. She’s rapidly risen through the scene’s ranks since launching the project in 2021 and continues to turn heads with each passing release and performance. This year alone has seen her drop tunes on Subsidia, Monstercat, and Ophelia, and has now returned to Dim Mak with the release of her latest EP, NOISE & THE THRILL.

Opening the ride is “Til It Breaks,” a song defined by its exploration of internal and external strain that Bella Renee has experienced in the early years of her career. Its soft breakbeat pairs perfectly with her vocals to create an intoxicating soundscape before booming forward with some energy to keep your body moving.

“Jaded” and “Reverie” arrive next, with both tracks diving into Bella Renee’s complex relationship with the industry, whether the time spent building new connections or the battle between disillusionment and internal drive to keep moving forward. The sole collaboration on NOISE & THE THRILL arrives on “Mirage,” which sees her team up with another woman carving out space for herself in the DnB scene, Skellytn. “It’s about seeing through people and holding off on the emotional reactivity responses formed through trauma and life experience,” Bella Renee said about the atmospheric gem of a track that tells the story of how she’s matured in the scene.

Listeners then land on “Live Wire,” a track featuring top-tier percussion that ties the EP together with a nice bow as Bella Renee explores the thematic elements of anxious attachment and false connections. “The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to detach,” she said about its meaning. “Nothing in this universe is permanent.”
