Get Funky in Salt Lake City Moved Indoors Due to Extreme Wind Forecast

“Your safety is our number one priority,” wrote Get Funky organizers V2 Presents in a statement.

Rather than risk another Bonnaroo situation, V2 Presents has taken drastic measures to ensure that Get Funky goes on this weekend. The Salt Lake City festival slated for June 20-21 will still take place at the The Great Saltair — but inside instead of outside.

V2 chalked up the decision to “a projected forecast of extreme winds” that could prompt an “extended interruption or evacuation” in a statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday. “We have made the difficult decision to move Get Funky indoors,” it reads. “Your safety is our number one priority. While we love the energy of our outdoor events, this move ensures we avoid any last-minute cancellations.”

Commenters on the post are divided on the move. “Hell yeah, indoor sound is god tier this is gonna be [fire emojis],” one wrote. Another posited that “that bass is gonna hit harder inside!!!”

Another lamented, “This is sad” and called the turn of events a “Major L.” They said they were “flying in from Florida for this to be outdoors with the mountains and salt flats. Not inside packed in like sardines and no room to dance.”

It’s understandable why V2 Presents would want to get ahead of any weather-related mishaps that could derail this year’s edition of Get Funky. In 2024 alone, Ultra Music Festival, Movement Detroit, and Electric Forest all had to pause their programming due to heavy rainstorms.

But such precautions may come at a cost. Last year, Global Dance Festival in Denver moved its mainstage indoors for the first time — and this year, its organizers announced that they would take 2025 off and return in 2026. It is unclear how much the events of 2024 factored into their decision.

This year, the Get Funky lineup includes such artists as SOFI TUKKER, Green Velvet, ACRAZE, Duke Dumont, SIDEPIECE, and Girl Math (VNSSA b2b Nala). Tickets are available via Eventbrite, and additional information can be found on the event website.
