Skrillex Takes Aim at Ticket Scalpers Ahead of Red Rocks Show

AXS was able to retrieve and resell scalped tickets to Skrillex’s 2023 Red Rocks show. The artist says he has “radical ideas” this time.

Tickets to Skrillex‘s upcoming five-hour set at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado sold out within minutes of going on sale last week. This has reignited conversations about ticket scalping in the live event space — and the world-famous DJ and producer is not shying away from them.

In a series of tweets, Skrillex (real name Sonny Moore) apologized to his fans in no uncertain terms. “I’m sorry to the people who try to buy my tickets get taken advantage of by scalpers,” he wrote. “It’s beyond upsetting and makes me feel terribly. My #1 focus before I ever book a tour again is to see how we can do much better at this.”

Moore continued, “With that said I’m not complaining but I have some radical ideas for the future. In the meantime we are doing everything we can to get fairly priced tickets in your hands.”

Moore has not gone into detail regarding plans to combat ticket scalping while promoting upcoming events. When tickets immediately sold out the last time the “RATATA” producer played Red Rocks in 2023, AEG-owned ticketing partner AXS was “able to recover a significant number” of passes and resell them through the platform’s “Fair AXS” feature, which randomly selects purchasers via lottery.

The 2023 Red Rocks set, which also ran five hours, was announced directly after the rapid-fire surprise release of Moore’s two albums, Quest for Fire and Don’t Get Too Close. This year’s announcement similarly followed the surprise release of his 34-song album, F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3.

Skrillex is returning to Red Rocks on Tuesday, May 13. It remains to be seen whether tickets will be retrieved and redistributed ahead of this year’s appearance.
