Since announcing his return to the scene on March 11, the news surrounding GRiZ has been a whirlwind. From the instantaneous sell-out of his welcome-back festival, Seven Stars, this October to over 13,000 comments on his return announcement on Instagram, it’s clear fans have been clamoring for a taste of the beloved producer.

Numerous IDs have surfaced throughout his hiatus, leaving fans wondering when GRiZ would start releasing music again. Now, that question has been answered as GRiZ unveiled the GEMiNI EP, surprising everyone as it sneakily made its way to Apple Music on March 21. Rolled out to all streaming platforms by mid-day, the sonically diverse project is a reminder of his production talent. A welcome addition to his extensive music catalog, the GEMiNI EP marks the first official release since his hiatus send-off EP, Ouroboros, in 2023.

Leading the four-track release is “Found Your Love,” which carries the same essence as the tracks on his 2013 album, Mad Liberation. An uplifting, glitch-hop groover, the song entrances listeners with rich vocals layered over GRiZ’s soulful saxophone. The only collaboration on the EP, “Take Me Home,” features the vocal finesse of Grabbitz and marks GRiZ’s first foray into melodic dubstep. The song shines through with emotionally stirring lyrics and a power-packed second drop.

On the latter half of the EP, the electrifying “2-step Nassau” is the perfect fusion of punchy brass horns and wobbling bass. “Til The Color Fades” concludes the 13-minute expedition through GRiZ’s versatile production range. A funky, genre-defying track, the EP ends with one final saxophone solo, fading out with Griz’s signature touch.
