Anjunabeats mainstay Oliver Smith has finally delivered the news that fans have waited decades for. He’s set to release his debut artist album this May!

Artists have come and gone on the Anjuna roster over the past two decades, but few have stood the test of time like Oliver Smith. The longtime friend of Above & Beyond was the first artist signed to Anjunabeats all those years ago, and his euphoric style has helped define the label’s sound ever since. Oliver Smith has consistently been on the label’s annual compilation series and performed at their showcases worldwide, but one thing was missing: an artist album.

As Anjunabeats celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, Oliver Smith will mark the occasion by dropping Footprints, his long-awaited debut artist album on the label. Officially due out this May, the album will feature 12 tracks that are sure to be packed with uplifting trance and progressive melodies that will tug at your heartstrings yet fill you with energy. “The music reflects my love for melody and groove, carrying an overall sense of hope and positivity,” he said. “I put a lot of thought into making sure every track had something special and truly deserved its place on the album.”

I’ve been releasing music for years, but my own album always took a backseat. When I finally started the project I had so many ideas and was unsure where to begin. I decided to embrace the process and let the destination reveal itself. This inspired ‘Footprints’, the title for the album, as even the tracks that didn’t make it left an imprint, and were a necessary part of the journey.

Oliver Smith went on to explain the meaning behind this album, saying that he “wanted to go beyond club music and tell real stories.” That pushed him to collaborate with singer-songwriters such as MØØNE, FARLEY, Diana Miro, Susie Ledge, and Benjamin Roustaing, who will appear on three tunes. “Many of the songs were written together in the studio,” he shared. “It was an amazing experience to work with such talented musicians and bring these ideas to life.”

Those looking for a taste of what’s in store can already get their fix. Oliver Smith’s first track of the year, “Rely On Me” with Tailor, landed in January. Today, he dropped another fresh single off Footprints for fans to feast their ears on, “Breathe.” This one sees him team up with Midnite Amity, who previously collaborated with artists like Julian Gray and ASHE. The pairing of Oliver Smith’s gorgeous melodies and Midnite Amity’s serene vocals are a match made in heaven and a sign that even more greatness will come on the rest of the album.

Listen to “Breathe” on Spotify or your preferred platform, and pre-save Footprints ahead of its full release on May 2.
