#TBT || Cosmic Gate & Emma Hewitt – Be Your Sound

For this week’s #TBT, let’s turn back the clock to the year 2011 with Cosmic Gate and Emma Hewitt’s “Be Your Sound”!

In the midst of the bloom of dubstep in the electronic music scene, a trance community was still going strong and pumping out massive hits as well. This was the year of Above & Beyond’s ‘Group Therapy’, Mat Zo & Arty’s “Rebound”, and Aly & Fila’s “We Control The Sunlight”, but I’m not here to have you reminisce about those tracks. I’m actually here to tell you about a little progressive trance track from legendary artists Cosmic Gate. Most well known for hits “Exploration of Space” and “Fire Wire” which have become classics in their own right, it was a decade after those two releases that they dropped “Be Your Sound” on trance fans around the world.

Featuring vocals from the stunning Emma Hewitt, the track takes you on an emotional trance roller coaster. The lyrics are powerful and loving, providing you with a comforting feeling of protection from their meaning. The track itself really starts slow with piano notes and vocals only before dropping into the ride. As the lyrics build, the song follows, only pausing for the chorus before breaking right back down into the sweet electronic beats. A track about loyalty and love is perfect for the trance genre. There is something seriously amazing about being in the crowd while this track is played out with everyone around you belting out the lyrics.

Cosmic Gate & Emma Hewitt – Be Your Sound Lyrics

We’ll build a fortress
To keep them out
And in a world gone silent
I’ll be your sound

Meet me tonight here
I know we’re gonna run away
Leaving the old fear
Looking for a new place

I can feel a storm near
The dream won’t go away
So meet me tonight dear
And we’ll run into a new day

And through it all
I’m on your side now
I’m on your side now

We’ll build our fortress
To keep them out
And in a world gone silent
I’ll be your sound
And if they’ll try to hurt you
I’ll tear them down
I’m always with you now

We’ll build a fortress
to keep them out
And then the world go silent
I’ll be your sound
And if they’ll try to hurt you
I’ll tear them down
I’ll always love you now!
