LUSU Delivers a Driving Techno Mix to Vibe Out to This Fall

Dynamic techno duo LUSU is making their presence known with a fresh collaboration with HI-LO and a sensational mix brimming with gems.

Wiwek and Mike Cervello might’ve cut their teeth in the scene with releases centered on dance-forward house music and big room, but they have other passions that needed to be explored. These two artists who called Barong Family home over the years have since taken a dive into the techno realm as LUSU, and they’re already flexing their skills in that realm.

“We’ve been closely listening to techno for more than a decade now and we feel like the borders between genres are blurring, which gave us the idea to start LUSU,” Mike shared about the duo’s beginnings. “We can pour all of our creativity in the project without losing our own identity. We make techno our way and that’s something we feel like would’ve been more difficult 10-15 years ago.”

The past few years have seen LUSU drop tunes including “Transition,” “Override,” “Wake Up,” and “Death Trap” on their label while also gracing HILOMATIK with “Reckless” and Arcane Music with “Ready 4 The Bass. That said, their latest single, “DIZZY,” might just be their biggest yet. This fast-paced tune that features layers of trance melodies and heavy kicks landed on Adam Beyer’s revered Drumcode imprint and brought one of the hottest artists in the scene right now, HI-LO, into the mix.

There’s more to the story behind “DIZZY,” though. LUSU’s Mike Cervello had first heard the vocal sample at a festival and fell in love with it roughly two years ago. From there, he showed it to Wiwek, leading to the two finding an old vinyl with the vocal on it, but it wasn’t quite done yet. “After getting the vocals, we instantly created a demo that we tested and tweaked for about a year,” Cevello shared. “In the meantime, HI-LO was also playing it everywhere, and we asked him to add his special sound to finish it as a collaboration. He was down to do it, and now we released it on Drumcode!”

Now that “DIZZY” has been unveiled for the world to hear, LUSU is celebrating in style with a fresh techno mix that will keep your body moving to the beat. The mix includes a hearty helping of their singles, along with tunes from Eli Brown, Hertz, and Adam Beyer. The duo shared that it’s “a journey through [their] current state of mind.”
