Ninajirachi Drops Nostalgia-Fueled, Genre-Bending Album, 'girl EDM (disc 1)'

**Australian artist Ninajirachi continues her sonic evolution with the release of her full-length album on NLV Records, girl EDM (disc 1).**

While Australia has been a hotbed for talented artists in the electronic music scene for decades, a new generation is bubbling up to the top. One of the artists at the forefront of this new era is Ninajirachi, who hails from the country’s Central Coast and has been thrust into the spotlight with some monumental releases and performances. At the core of her style is what she defines as “girl EDM,” driven by her early influences in the scene that included the likes of Lady Gaga, SOPHIE, Grimes, and Porter Robinson.

Those influences have come full circle for Ninajirachi with the release of her latest body of work, girl EDM (disc 1). This ten-track album on NLV Records sees the Aussie explore the soundscapes of the late 2000s and early 2010s that first captivated her, layering in elements of electro-house, progressive house, hard dance, electro-pop, and more along the way.

“It’s just girl EDM…You get it or you don’t,” said Ninajirachi. “People love to ask artists how they’d describe their sound, and recently I realised mine is literally girl EDM. EDM was the music that first made me want to become a producer when I was a 12-year-old in 2012. My taste grew and changed, but EDM and dance-pop raised me and so many in my generation.”

Those who have followed Ninajirachi over the past year will find familiarity with the tracks on girl EDM (disc 1) as it combines the tunes found in her 4×4 EP that landed in late 2023 with those from the girl EDM EP that landed in May. Standouts among those include “1×1” with Ravenna Golden, “Kota on the plane” with Kota Banks, and her solo tunes “Wayside” and “Hand on my heart,” all of which are dripping with dynamic, genre-defying sonic elements.

The newest tune to arrive alongside the album’s release is “Angel Music,” which brings MGNA Crrrta into the mix. The two artists first met and found studio synergy together when on tour in the US earlier this year, and the result is an adventurous tune that offers everything from edgy experimentation to moving melodic moments.
