Dive into last week’s hottest bass music from Klinical, MYTHM, Ternion Sound, IMANU, INDI, Big Gigantic, Smoakland, and YDG.

With spring comes even more lineup, tour announcements, and festival news hitting the scene as music fans’ summer and fall plans pile up on their calendars. Last week saw Bass Camp Festival drop its phase one lineup, as well as countless can’t-miss club shows like a Joker Los Angeles headline and The Widdler at The Mishawaka Amphitheater. Additionally, Sunset Music Festival announced a hiatus year, and it was concluded that Baltimore’s Moonrise Festival would likely not return in 2024.

As the green celebrations faded and another release-filled week began, there were five gems that we and other dubstep fans couldn’t stop replaying from St Patty’s Day week. Full projects from Klinical and Ternion Sound, singles from IMANU and YDG, and plenty more were on our release radar, all of which did not disappoint.

Keep reading for more information on five fresh tracks that dropped this week, and listen to more bass music curations on EDM Identity’s Colossal Commotion and Drum & Bass Delights playlists for the latest tracks updated weekly.

Bass Music IDchart 008: March 11 – 17, 2024

Klinical & MYTHM – 1THOUSAND

After teasing fans with a lethal single a few weeks back, dubstep aficionado Klinical finally dropped his latest 6-track project on Overview Music last week. Violent Castles features a long-awaited collaboration with MYTHM.

This sound system shaker, “1THOUSAND,” rattles with deep, staggered distortions atop its satisfying low-end sounds, proving that the pair makes a deadly duo.

Ternion Sound – 422 Vip

Last week, Minneapolis-based power trio Ternion Sound released three new VIPs of previous tracks. Out as a three-track EP via DUPLOC, the new takes include VIPs of “422,” “Vision Quest,” and a second remake of their popular tune “Verify Me.”

While these remakes don’t drastically differ from their originals, fans of the original tracks will undoubtedly love their VIP counterparts. This rendition of “422” was nearly every bit as satisfying as the first and left us craving a listen to its origin track.

IMANU & INDI – Reminiscing

IMANU and INDI joined forces for a brand new drum and bass stunner titled “Reminiscing” last week, out via none other than UKF. The striking red and black album artwork catches the eye first, but the sounds within leave a memorable mark at first listen.

A defining aspect of UKF releases is that they tend to capture a timeless nostalgia ‘reminiscent’ of early and mid-2000 electronic styles. There’s no doubt that IMANU and INDI understood that assignment, following through with uplifting female vocals and a powerful melody.

Big Gigantic & Smoakland – Disco Fever

Two unsuspecting duos joined forces for a funky collaboration EP via Deadbeats last week. Electronic funk pair Big Gigantic teamed up with Left Coast Extracts leaders Smoakland for a two-track project.

“Disco Fever” and its opening radio-like sample concerning the rise in popularity of “disco music” sets the silly mood for the rest of the bass-heavy banger that is indeed not disco music.

YDG – Diamond

Diamonds on my mind, I’m freakin’ I’m freakin’ all night, always on the grind, look at me look at me now! You know the catchy sample from Eli Brown’s house hit, and last week, YDG gave bassheads his dubstep spin on the popular vocals.

Released last week via Create Music Group, “Diamond” is already climbing the Beatport charts as listeners understandably can’t get enough of the addicting vocal paired with YDG’s head-nodding womps and wobbles.
