K Motionz Explores His DnB Roots on Latest Release

in Album Review

K Motionz provides a nostalgic throwback to the music that paved the way for many with some new jump-up drum and bass on For Old Times Sake.

K Motionz is steadily becoming a massive face in the drum and bass realm. Within his years in the scene, he’s proved eager to prove he is here for the long run with each release. His ability to range through many different sub-categories of drum and bass keeps listeners on their toes and is one of the many reasons they can’t get enough.

Although he is a fresher face within the music scene, he proved from the start that talent is apparent with the release of his first album, The Evolution, at only 19. Flash forward to now, and K Motionz has risen to a fan favorite worldwide with support from the likes of UKF, as well as performing at nearly every major festival in the UK.

In honor of the inspirations that impacted his drum and bass journey, K Motionz dropped his latest EP, For Old Times Sake. Within this four-track release, OG and new fans alike will be delighted to indulge in his take on jump-up drum and bass. Press play and hear his tribute to the sounds that paved the way for him and many others.

Making a statement, “Cypher” comes in with a point to prove. Instant hard-hitting beats slam into you with glitchy textured frequencies quickly following behind. Distorted robotic-like dialogue creates confusion on “Phantasm.” Then, with the help of Simula, steady strumming leads you to fall into blubbery textured sounds for the rest of its runtime.

MC ID steps in on “Run Dem” to help provide addictive lyricism. As his prideful words ring out, you have a plethora of high-alert energy with satisfying kicks and drums to match the attitude. “Concourse” provides an ethereal intro but quickly proves it’s a proud member of the jump-up community. Catch the beat if you can as you try to keep up with the never-ending twists and turns this track delivers.
