As Dirtybird founder Barclay Crenshaw turns the page on his bass-focused next chapter, he embarks on the Open Channel tour ahead of a new album.
Not even a month has passed since Barclay Crenshaw announced that he’s retiring the Claude VonStroke alias. He clearly planned ahead for this moment, because in this short time, he’s dropped a new bass-focused track with Of The Trees and Strategy, declared that he’s leaving his Dirtybird label in good hands, and is now announcing the Open Channel tour. The tour announcement is just the beginning as Open Channel is also the name of the upcoming album from Crenshaw.
Over the years, Crenshaw has never been afraid to explore sounds that are outside the box. He’s released singles pushing well beyond the house genre for which he is best known. The new album may not be the first as Barclay Crenshaw (that was in 2017), but it does mark the beginning of a new chapter for Crenshaw.

The 13-city, two-month tour, will be headlined by Barclay Crenshaw, with support from EPROM, Tiedye Ky, LYNY, Super Future, and others along the way. The iconic Webster Hall in NYC will host the first stop, followed by Concord Music Hall in Chicago. The tour effectively ends at The Concourse Project in Austin before Barclay Crenshaw appears at Electric Forest in June. Crenshaw collaborated with Gabriel Hall, aka LightBender, for projection mapping and digital art visualizations.
