REDACTED unveils his first-ever EP, RAVE FORCE 1999, paying homage to his roots in dance music and catapulting his project into the future.
REDACTED has delivered a stellar run of releases over the past two years with tunes ranging from hard techno to Jersey club to hard dance, always prioritizing quality over quantity. Despite REDACTED’s short journey, the producer behind it is no novice. Some listeners may remember his previous alias, Rose Dawn. The project earned him spots on labels like Barong Family and saw him team up with rising stars of the scene such as Mikey Barreneche, Stoutty, RayBurger, and so many others.
Like all good things, the project came to an end in 2019 when he had to take a break to focus on bettering his mental health and personal life. This wasn’t the end for the Philadelphian producer, however. He went on to breath life into REDACTED, a project focused on capturing the visceral, raw, and authentic energy that emanated from music in the ’90s and 2000s. Slowly but surely, REDACTED has been building this project from the ground up, perfecting his craft and creating an unmatched production style that evokes the same feeling he had when listening to music from the past.
After many iterations and lots of trial and error, REDACTED finally unleashed his first EP, RAVE FORCE 1999. Paying homage to his roots in ’90s and early 2000s dance music, the effort is a culmination of his favorite sounds and a personal time capsule of an era that greatly inspires him. Over three years in development, this record offers a peek into the future of REDACTED through meticulous production, high-octane energy, and pounding beats.

RAVE FORCE 1999 turns back the clock to the early days of techno with “TOOK HER TO BERLIN.”
Complete with ravey stabs, punchy kick drums, and signature techno hi-hats, this tune is a perfect blast to the past. It exposes listeners to some of the older sounds of dance music in the context of modern production styles, which is only fitting given the title of the EP. After taking listeners to Berlin, REDACTED uncovers “ERROR1999,” which delivers a dose of nostalgia. Its iconic vocals and repetitive melodies create spine-tingling moments in which listeners can’t help but dance.
“LEFT/RIGHT” closes off RAVE FORCE 1999 in style as arguably the best track on this EP. Channeling his early inspirations of hardstyle and hardcore, this tune combines crunchy, distorted kick drums and drifting screeches with the signature sounds of hard techno. It’s an epic hybrid that has taken the scene by storm over the past few years. Aside from the sonic inspirations present throughout, this record stems from a foundational moment in REDACTED’s career.
Back in 2016, he heard the sample from ZazaFront’s “Dikke Vette Bassplaat,” used in the iconic “Left to Right” moment at Defqon.1 Weekend Festival‘s POWER HOUR. Seeing thousands of people joining together for a moment of unity and getting lost in the music created a drive for REDACTED to capture that same energy, eventually manifesting itself in “LEFT/RIGHT.”
After going through three epic records, it’s clear that while RAVE FORCE 1999 is sonically profound, it’s only a medium to share the story of REDACTED with lots more to come.
Similar to how storylines are the reason why people have favorite TV shows or video games, RAVE FORCE 1999 will become a fan favorite as REDACTED successfully tells a story that dives further than the music. “I’ve wanted to produce and release an EP for a long while and finally doing it is a huge personal achievement,” he said. “This EP represents multiple years of self-discovery; there’s a very personal touch to every track on the project.”
Even after successfully containing the EP into one cohesive project, there’s still so much more to tell in the story of REDACTED. “The hardest part of developing the EP was finding the right sounds to go together,” he said. “I love looking to the past for inspiration. There’s so much good material to listen to. I studied tracks I enjoy to see why I liked them, and what made them impactful to a listener.” Every track on this record has been meticulously handpicked through multiple listening sessions, different combinations, and lots of personal growth.
Now that RAVE FORCE 1999 is out for the world to enjoy, REDACTED wants listeners to know that there’s a lot more where this came from. “It’s been a busy year and I don’t plan on pumping the brakes at any point soon,” he said. “Besides this EP there are a few more releases this year, including my most personal song to date, “ESCAPE FROM U,” a ground-up reworking of a track I released as a part of my last project.” In addition to music, REDACTED is also developing an art and fashion project dubbed BODEGAtrash and many pieces of the puzzle are finally starting to fall into place.
There’s no doubt that REDACTED has only built the foundation of this latest journey in music, proving himself to be one of the most underrated producers in all of dance music today. Make sure to stay tuned into his frequencies, and keep an eye out on his socials to stay up to date on all of his artistic ventures.
