Above & Beyond Announce Anthemic Seven Lions Collab, “Over Now”

Originally debuted at EDC Las Vegas 2023, “Over Now” marks Seven Lions’ first collab with Above & Beyond in four years.

Seven Lions‘ history with Above & Beyond runs deep. Before his sonically pristine brand of melodic dubstep caught fire at the height of the EDM boom, he got his start winning a remix competition for their track “You Got To Go” featuring Zoë Johnston. After having finally collaborated together in earnest on “See The End” in 2019, Seven Lions and Above & Beyond will add a second joint effort titled “Over Now” to their discography on Friday, September 22.

As noted by Exron Music, Seven Lions (real name Jeff Montalvo) first teased the track in a fall 2022 Reddit AMA. Above & Beyond brought him onstage at this year’s EDC Las Vegas for the single’s live debut, and he later joined them again at Group Therapy Weekender in July. A video shared by the UK trio to promote the release opens with soft piano keys and emotive vocals courtesy of South African band Opposite The Other (who also contributed to “See The End.”). As a signature Above & Beyond synth stack pierces the quiet, Montalvo can be seen singing along ecstatically.

Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki launched the Anjunabeats label in 1999 before forming Above & Beyond. Upon meeting Tony McGuinness and working with him on a remix of “Home” by Chakra, they adopted the moniker, racking up BBC Radio 1 plays and other early successes soon after. The decade that followed saw them establish themselves as a fixture of trance. During the EDM explosion from 2010-2015, their festival-friendly style made Anjunabeats a formidable presence across the worldwide dance music community.

After his remix of the trio’s single “You Got To Go” put him on the map, Montalvo capitalized on the momentum —perhaps most notably with his 2014 EP Worlds Apart. The effort introduced his heartstring-tugging take on melodic dubstep and made him a household name among EDM fans. In 2018, he inaugurated his Ophelia Records imprint with a track titled “Calling You Home” featuring Runn.

Pre-save Above & Beyond and Seven Lions’ “Over Now” featuring Opposite The Other across all platforms.
