DRUMSHEDS is the talk of London after announcing plans to open for business earlier in the month. The buzz isn’t likely to die down following today’s news. Broadwick Live has announced 12 shows to kick things off at the 608,000-square-foot, 15,000-capacity venue.
October 7 marks the grand opening of DRUMSHEDS, one marked by a party called La Discothèque. Billed for the occasion are Anish Kumar, Gilles Peterson, Kenny Dope, Melé, and Norman Jay MBE, among others. The gathering will run from 12-10:30pm.
Then, on October 12, the fledgling venue will host live performances by Basement Jaxx, Hot Chip, and Orbital. Rounding out the festivities will be DJ sets by Miss Kittin, Erol Alkan, and DJ Paulette.
The rest of the 12 events fill up the DRUMSHEDS calendar through December 16. Headliners for these parties include Gorgon City, Charlotte de Witte, Andy C, Jamie Jones, and Armand Van Helden.
Broadwick Live is the brainchild behind such celebrated UK venues as Printworks, The Beams, and Depot Mayfield. It was founded in 2010 with key investment capital from Global.
“DRUMSHEDS as a cultural project is about creativity and impact at scale,” said Broadwick Live Director of Music Ajay Jayaram. “Some of music’s biggest artists, labels, and brands are working with us to curate shows that are unparalleled in terms of size and production in the capital, offering our guests an experience unlike anything before.”
At the time of writing, full lineups have only been announced for the first three shows. The remaining lineup details for the other nine will be shared publicly on August 30, according to a statement.
Presale tickets will be available on August 2 at 11am BST in the DRUMSHEDS Linktree. The rest of the tickets for all of the venue’s opening events from October to December will be available for purchase the following day.
