AbstructA makes his Paradigm Shift debut, showcasing his newest venture into the uptempo realm with a fiery guest mix.
AbstructA is a relatively new producer to join the collective of American Hard Dance, but don’t let that fool you, as he’s rising quickly to take his spot at the top of the scene. The Maine-based producer has been climbing the ranks with bookings all over the States, opening for leaders of the scene like Lil Texas and leaving his mark on labels such as Upcoming Records, X-Bone Records (now Scantraxx Prospexx), and Static Gravity Records with more to come.
AbstructA has been an avid fan of hard dance music for quite some time, but the love was lost along the way. However, he was reintroduced to the harder styles through a signed CD of Zatox’s album, Oxygen, while he was in rehab recovering from alcohol abuse. Frequently, AbstructA would steal the communal radio to listen to the record over and over until a fire sparked within him to pour his heart and soul into music. “The two raised A’s [in my artist name] symbolize the start of my journey in AA as I was exiting detox and the abstract life I led. I decided to focus a lot of my energy on music. It helped me set my life right, and I owe a lot to this scene.”
In January, AbstructA released his latest EP, The Abstruction Facility, which encapsulated his rawstyle sound into one package. Arguably, this EP set the tone for the future of the project, hoping to birth a new generation of rougher, harder music in America. Shortly after this body of work, AbstructA found a new home in uptempo music. “Uptempo is where my passion is right now, so I don’t see a return to rawstyle anytime soon,” he said. “I recently had an amazing phone call with a representative from Black Reaper Records, and while I’m hoping for some good news from that call, the advice I was given helped me fully make the decision to focus on uptempo.”
In my experience, the U.S. is regarded as a middle ground for music quality if you ask anyone in the Dutch scene. U.S. producers are taking that criticism and are trying to do everything they can to push a more professional sound when it comes to American Hard Dance music. I personally feel the U.S. needs a rebirth of the rougher side, and I would like to make that change happen.
