Norwegian artist Matoma and non-profit organization Fuck Cancer teamed up to deliver personalized Cameo messages to fans.
World-renowned DJ and producer, Matoma, is known for his uplifting tracks and remixes including “All Night,” “Old Thing Back,” and “False Alarm” which are filled with infectious hooks and tropical flair. His music has been heard on dance floors across the globe, but now he’s brought light into the lives of fans beyond that through a partnership with the non-profit organization Fuck Cancer.
This month, Matoma and Fuck Cancer joined together to deliver messages of support through Cameo. They called on fans to share a video with Matoma about their cancer journeys or other physical and mental health struggles. Following their submissions, fans received a free, personalized video from Matoma offering support. These Cameos offered up connection and inspiration to those who choose to participate.
The campaign not only reinforced the meaning behind Matoma’s latest single “Never Surrender” featuring Steve Garrigan, but it also aimed to bring awareness to Fuck Cancer. This incredible charity is dedicated to improving health outcomes by providing early detection, prevention, and support programs that advance health equity for individuals and communities affected by cancer.
I’ve collaborated with F*** Cancer in the past, and we’re always looking for ways to do more together. When I wrote “Never Surrender” with Steve from Kodaline, there’s a really strong message of positivity and empowerment that we felt could be a really inspirational tool for connecting with people, whether it’s cancer patients, survivors who want to share their stories, or anyone in any circumstance really that wanted some words of support! So we thought Cameo could be the perfect community and way of reaching people. So far I’ve received some really beautiful messages from fans all around the world, and have been honored to reply to them with my own words of support and encouragement.
Matoma
This is not the first time Matoma has partnered with non-profit organizations. The producer has worked with local charities while on tour, and has pledged to go beyond carbon neutrality and make his tours carbon positive with CHOOOSE. This new campaign with Fuck Cancer helped further position Matoma as a role model and leader in philanthropic action in the dance music scene, and we love him for it!
