Los Angeles-based DJ and producer Skyler Madison turns up the dial by spinning a mix for our This Is Home series filled with bass heaters.

Skyler Madison is a rising star in the bass scene who is making some major moves as of late – and if you’re not familiar with her sound yet you should definitely acquaint yourself soon. This DJ-turned-producer originally hails from South Florida but moved to Los Angeles to pursue her passion and further develop her skills both in the studio and behind the decks. The result of this new era for Skyler Madison has already led to some success in 2021, first with her debut EP on Circus Records, Iridescent, and now gaining looks from other tastemakers as well.

Last month, Skyler Madison opened up the next chapter of her story by landing a fresh release on Monstercat, “Phoenix.” Further defining her sound that blends elements of trap, future bass, and hip-hop, the tune is taken to the next level with vocals from GLNNA that help tell a story of rebirth and perseverance. Speaking about the track itself, Skyler Madison said “I hope it sheds light and gives those the inner strength they need to turn their pain into power and rise above their old self or a situation that no longer serves them the same way I did.”

Now, Skyler Madison has spun up a mix for the This Is Home series to show off her abilities behind the decks while also turning back the clock to give everyone a look at some of the tracks that influenced her in the early days of her career. “For this mix, I really tried to channel what originally ignited my love for Trap and Bass music by running it back to the golden era of 2012-2016,” she said. “This era alone inspired me to transition from a DJ to a Producer; where I was heavily inspired by the likes of Krewella, RL Grime, Flosstradamus, Diplo, WhatSoNot, Troyboi, and Party Favor to name a few.”

I was a huge Mad Decent, OWSLA, and Monstercat fan back then so I wanted to throw in some of my favorites from that time period of my life, where I was an upcoming touring DJ from South Florida before taking the leap of faith and moving to LA to pursue producing.
