Drastic measures by the French Government in their fight against the spread of Coronavirus has led to the cancellation of Tomorrowland Winter.
After yesterday’s news broke from Miami that Ultra Music Festival would be postponed and likely not to return until 2021, the next cancellation due to the Coronavirus has now surfaced: Tomorrowland Winter.
Much like other festivals that were slated to occur this month, Tomorrowland Winter had updated its website with information about the virus and its response to growing concerns. The organizers mentioned on March 2 that they were working hand-in-hand with the government and stated: “Given the current situation, there is no reason to expect that the festival will not be able to take place.”
Other large-scale gatherings like the Paris half-marathon have been cancelled in France, along with a ban being placed on gatherings and indoor events with large capacities to help prevent the spread of the virus. After much discussion, the French Government came to the decision that Tomorrowland Winter would also need to be cancelled as well.
As stated in their website update just moments ago, the organizers said: “The French Government is taking drastic measures regarding the COVID-19 virus in France. Therefore they are enforcing the cancellation of large events, bringing together people from different nationalities on closed festival grounds and event locations.”
The second edition of Tomorrowland Winter was set to take place at Alpe d’Huez in France from March 14-21 with world-renowned artists like Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Nervo, Martin Garrix, and many others on the lineup.
