Calvin Harris’ set on a float moving through São Paulo has been certified by Guinness as having drawn the largest crowd of any performance by a single DJ.
São Paulo‘s highly engaged dance music scene keeps on making history. Guinness World Records (GWR) certified a gathering there featuring Alok as the biggest New Year’s celebration in history back in January, and now Calvin Harris has set the record for largest crowd drawn by a single DJ at an event.
The February 8 performance traveled through the streets of São Paulo on a parade float as part of a free Brazilian Carnival event called Bloco Skol. It drew around 1.6 million people. Harris treated his record-setting audience to early hits like “We Found Love” and “This Is What You Came For,” both featuring Rihanna, as well as more recent cuts like “One Kiss” with Dua Lipa.
Of course, a crowd of that size inevitably brings its share of complications. Authorities were forced to shut down Rua da Consolação, a historic São Paulo street, and GWR noted that a number of fans fainted due to the heat.
“Only in Brazil!!!” Harris wrote in a post caption on Instagram. “This was a truly insane day!”
This isn’t the first time GWR has recognized Calvin Harris. He was previously certified for having the most top ten hits on the UK singles chart from a single album for his 2012 effort, 18 Months. Meanwhile, he’s recently celebrated a number of career firsts, such as his debut performance at Rock in Rio’s Palco Mundo and his first-ever Australian tour set to kick off in February 2027.
Calvin Harris is set to close out the remainder of 2026 with performances at Ushuaïa Ibiza, Head Trip in Indio, California, XS Las Vegas, and Festival Presidente in the Dominican Republic.
