New venue ORIGIN Los Angeles is marking its grand opening weekend in October with headline performances from MRAK, Malive, Liva K, and Kölsch.
While Los Angeles has been home to plenty of tried-and-true venues for electronic music events, recent years have seen more pop up to lay their claim in the growing scene. The latest to throw its hat in the ring is ORIGIN Los Angeles, which intends to become the newest place for forward-thinking experiences in Southern California.
ORIGIN Los Angeles announced that it will open its doors on October 9 and mark the occasion with a headline performance from Afterlife co-founder MRAK. That is just the beginning of the fun, as the following day will feature a pair of shows to keep the party rolling. The venue’s first Saturday daytime event will bring Brazil’s Malive and Greece’s Liva K to the stage, while the vibe shifts in the evening hours as legendary producer Kölsch takes control of the decks for the third show of the weekend.
Located in Los Angeles’ Arts District, this new industrial event venue offers an indoor/outdoor setting that will let it showcase everything from intimate club nights to diverse cultural and community-driven events. Led by Roni Mehrabian and Cyril Bitar, who have been a force in the city with nightlife brands SBCLTR and Minimal Effort, this music-first environment has sound and production at its core. Marc Dizon, who worked on Brooklyn Mirage and Output in New York and Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles, has lent his expertise in futuristic design to the mix. The venue will also feature a custom analog KV2 Audio system for sound that elevates performances.
These three shows set the tone for the bookings ORIGIN Los Angeles will champion in the coming months, with a heavy focus on indie electronic artists and forward-thinking programming. The venue will also host special quarterly Arts District parties, including the upcoming edition of THE MAZE, which is set to take place on Halloween weekend.
