Elements Festival Faces Familiar Weather Issues at Start of Event

Elements Festival has had to close off the venue and temporarily pause programming, with the first official night of the festival still ahead.

When it rains, it pours. Just ask Elements Festival.

The Long Pond, Pennsylvania gathering enjoyed a year without weather disruptions in 2025, after Hurricane Debby caused flooding at the 2024 event. But heavy rainstorms have reared their ugly heads once again in 2026, prompting organizers to pause programming and close the festival grounds at Pocono Raceway.

Around 6:30pm local time yesterday, August 6, Elements Festival took to social media to announce that lightning storms had forced them to close the venue a mere hour into the pre-party. “Please locate to your campsite or vehicle to shelter in place,” they wrote. The gates reopened shortly after 7:30pm, and organizers reworked the pre-party set times.

Then, at approximately 10:45am today, August 7, “lightning in the area” forced them to shut the gates again. The venue reopened around 3pm with significant caveats. “Commuter and single-day patrons, please delay your arrival,” Elements Festival wrote in social media posts. “We will continue to keep everyone updated.”

Photos and videos taken at the event show dancing areas muddy from the downpour. Locals report that entry restrictions have caused congestion on nearby roads.

It remains to be seen if inclement weather will continue to affect the festival’s programming later in its first evening, or during its remaining two days. According to the latest National Weather Service forecasts, the risk of severe thunderstorms remains high until midnight, and there’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2pm and 10pm tomorrow. Sunday’s forecast currently remains clear.
