1 Injured at Coachella After Heavy Winds Knock Down Do Lab Lighting Fixture

A large lighting fixture fell on a woman at the Do Lab stage on the first night of Coachella 2026. Anyma was also unable to perform due to heavy wind.

A woman was allegedly injured overnight at Coachella after heavy gusts of wind knocked an overhead lighting fixture onto her at the Do Lab stage.

Photo and video taken at the event show the device resting on the ground after it fell. Social media comments suggest that the woman was “badly injured,” but her condition has not been disclosed to the public.

Spokespeople on behalf of Coachella and Do Lab did not immediately respond to EDM Identity’s request for comment.

The National Weather Service issued an air quality alert for Indio, California, where the Empire Polo Club is located, warning that wind speed could reach up 25 MPH overnight. Separately, Italian melodic techno superstar Anyma was forced to cancel his midnight performance on account of the advisory.

“Due to strong wind conditions affecting Anyma’s stage build, he is unable to perform,” reads a statement shared via the festival app. “Coachella and Anyma have made this decision together with your safety as the priority.”

Video taken this morning, April 11, also appears to show that a large branch was torn from a tree and wrecked a attendee’s campsite. Social media comments suggest that attendees were temporarily pinned under it but are currently in stable condition.

Coachella is by no means the only festival in recent memory to experience weather-related setbacks. In 2024, Ultra Music Festival, Movement Detroit, and Electric Forest were all forced to temporarily halt programming due to heavy rainstorms.

According to the air quality alert, wind speeds could reach up to 30 MPH overnight tonight, April 11. Weekend one of Coachella runs through Sunday, April 12, with weekend two taking place from April 17-19.

This is a developing story and EDM Identity will update it as additional information becomes available.
