Chinonegro Makes Fierce Entrance With ‘Mi Gentee’ On BotaniQ

Hailing from Chiclayo, Peru, Jorge Davila — who’s known as Chinonegro — has steadily expanded his global footprint with releases on influential labels like Crosstown Rebels, Elrow Music, Mindshake, and Deeperfect. Last year marked a breakthrough. His 8-bit track “Funky Beat” became a summer favorite, picked up by trailblazers including Marco Carola, Mochakk, Franky Rizardo, and Rossi.

Building on that momentum, his three-track Mi Gentee EP on BotaniQ highlights his signature tech house groove and appreciation for Caribbean and Latin-inspired music. In an Instagram collab post between BotaniQ and Chinonegro, the artist shared that he took it back to the ’90s Caribbean era with Boricua house. The style of Latin house music popularized in the ’90s blends Puerto Rican rhythms with electronic beats.

All the while, “Sexy Dancer” layers a classic vocal sample from “Dance with Me” by R&B group 112. The repeated “dance with me” lyric blended with a four-on-the-floor rhythm creates a balance between familiarity and fresh energy. Together, the two tracks operate like a mini-set, guiding the crowd through a musical journey that underlines Chinonegro’s ability to control a room.
