Heading to the first-ever edition of The 5th Element Festival in Puerto Rico? Don’t sleep on these five artists who have roots planted in the island.
The 5th Element Festival is around the corner. Set on the island of Puerto Rico, across various beach and jungle venues in San Juan, Isla Verde, and Río Grande, the seven-day event features not only some of the best underground house and techno but also art, wellness, and unique dining experiences. The nonstop 24/7 programming will move from day into night from January 7-13, ample time to explore all the festival’s offerings.
Over 60 artists will play across four+ stages during those seven days, featuring names like Archie Hamilton, Avision, Ben Sterling, Cristi Cons, Danny Tenaglia, Dixon, Dennis Cruz, Dyed Soundorom, Idriss D, Maher Daniel, Mahony, Ricardo Villalobos, Nu Zau, tINI, and Traumer. Created by one of the co-founders of BPM Festival, The 5th Element promises to be a special, one-of-a-kind event that balances serious curators with an authentic destination experience.
In addition to all the wonderful talent on the lineup, we also wanted to highlight some local artists who are doing great things in their own right. Whether they are fresh faces or have been DJs for over a decade, all have significant ties to Puerto Rico and are worth checking out. Read on below for five of our standouts.

Five Puerto Rican Artists You Shouldn’t Miss at The 5th Element Festival 2026

Cali Lanauze
Born and currently based in San Juan, Calixto Cali Lanauze, better known as Cali Lanauze, has been DJing and producing for over 15 years. He’s gone on to release music on labels like Seth Troxler‘s Slacker85, Flying Circus, Visionquest, Crosstown Rebels, and Serialism. Known for deep, dark, and experimental house music. Catch him on Sunday at the Temple Stage.

Gera Akaté
Gera Akaté started in music as a child, playing the saxophone, and eventually DJing in the late 2000s. The Puerto Rican-born and raised artist has since gained quite a reputation. She founded the DJ Academy in Puerto Rico and the label Akochema with co-founder Valeria Nahyr to grow the music scene there. She’s released music on DJ Tennis‘s Life and Death and Little Helpers, all while playing all over the world. You can catch her Saturday at the Temple Stage and on Monday at the Horizon Stage playing B2B with Rob The Bank.

Jon Delgado
Jon Delgado is a Puerto Rican house DJ and producer with a career spanning nearly 20 years. He started DJing professionally at 17, soon after discovering an excitement for house music. Since then, he’s released music on Santurce Recordings and shared stages with artists like DJ Tennis, BLOND:ISH, and Damian Lazarus, always delivering some incredible grooves. You can catch Jon at the Temple Stage on Saturday.

Luna Mar
Born to Puerto Rican parents, Luna Mar grew up in Brooklyn. Since she started DJing and producing, she’s played events like Elrow New York, Electric Zoo, and ARC Music Festival in Chicago. She frequently plays at Superior Indigents in NYC, is a resident at Grey Area, and recently released music on MoodyHouse Recordings. You can catch her on Thursday, January 8, in San Juan.

McFly
McFly, real name Ricardo, is a Puerto Rican artist with a passion for storytelling. Almost five years ago, he decided to really pursue DJing and has since grown to love it. He’s played in venues all over Puerto Rico, Miami, and Medellín, opening for DJs like Dennis Cruz, HUGEL, and Mochakk. Recently, he’s started making his own music with something on the way very soon. You can find McFly spinning tech house on Saturday at the Horizon Stage.
