Flintwick gets playful on his latest EP, providing listeners with a well-deserved break from seriousness.
Flintwick is a one-of-a-kind artist, the type who only comes around once in a lifetime. His eclecticism doesn’t go unnoticed within the scene and he continues to turn heads. From playing live sets with fruits and vegetables as unconventional instruments to composing more emotive music with powerful vocalists like Yongi, his creative process leaves no stone unturned.
The proof is in the bookings, and this year saw Flintwick perform on many new stages. Cherished festivals love to feature his name on their bills, including Secret Dreams, Nocturnal Nights, and Beyond Existence, to name a few. Another major highlight of the year was his headlining Blissfall at the iconic Mishawaka in Colorado, featuring a night of music deep in the Rocky Mountains.
Besides a few singles, Flintwick hasn’t shared a whole body of work since his Lurching EP in 2024, and the people are more than ready to see what he’s been sitting on. Fear not, because the wait is over: today, the controlled chaos guru unveils his newest EP, Slingshot. You can’t judge a book by its cover, but you can judge this EP by its title because this music snaps back.
Named after the classic tension/release device — the slingshot. I wanted every sound to feel rubbery, alive, and elastic — then snap forward to snarly, blunt, and chunky low-end design. I feel like bass music can be so serious, so I wanted to take some serious basses and glue them together with whacky percussion, mouthy synths, and playful composition.

It’s time to get face “Planted” with abstract layers of sound on track one. These frequencies seems to be having just as much fun interacting with one another as we do listening to them; the textures come alive in real time.
Ready to get bendy? “Slingshot” is here, and it’s about to get wonky real fast as spastic layers of energy topple over each other. And did someone say, “play that funky organ white boy”? …Or whatever that Wild Cherry song said.
We love a good sample, and “Wombat” starts off with some notable lyrics from the rap don Nas. Out of the gate, this sets the unmistakable tone of swag throughout the entire track.
Already getting attention from artists like BLAAP, “Cattywampus” needs no intro. Trip-hop has never sounded as good as it does in this masterpiece.
Lastly, we have “Cute Loris.” This song offers a well-executed bait and switch, but instead of feeling disappointed, listeners will rejoice. Cutesy chirps of birds flying freely in the intro make for a skewed game of musical Plinko up until the last note.
