Water Spirit stopped by to dive deep into their latest collaboration with Quarkee, “ECHO LAYER,” released on Welcome Records.
American Hard Dance standout Water Spirit continuously proves to the scene that they belong in the conversation of best producers stateside. Intense performances on big stages like EDC Las Vegas paired with guest releases on prestigious labels such as Basscon Records and Barong Family only build their case, and there’s much more to come.
Recently, Water Spirit released their latest single, “ECHO LAYER,” a fiery collaboration with Quarkee that masterfully combines hard techno and rawstyle into a behemoth of a track. Out on Kayzo’s Welcome Records, it serves as a reminder that the new generation of hard dance producers coming up in the US is ready to take over.
Reflecting on their second collaboration, Water Spirit said, “I think Quarkee has a very unique ear for good kicks. He makes some of the most forward-thinking hard dance music in the game.”
Both collaborations so far have been absolute hits, and Water Spirit attributes that to the common ground that both share. “I think we tend to like the same type of music, which makes collaborating fun and easy,” they said.
Dedicated fans might be quick to notice that this track isn’t entirely new, however.
“The track has been circulating in DMs between other artists and me for a while,” Water Spirit said. “It has been getting played out by Kayzo, Must Die!, and Space Laces for some time now, and it’s been played by their collective project, Hivemind.”
In fact, “ECHO LAYER” has been completed for about two years, but the right time for a release didn’t come until now. “Honestly, it would have come out a lot sooner, but we were trying to find the right label home for it. Welcome Records is the perfect home for it since Kayzo was already familiar with the track. The recent rise of hard techno was just a lucky coincidence,” Water Spirit told EDM Identity.
This release closes out the year for Water Spirit, but they promise much more to come in 2026 and beyond. “The quality Quarkee and I put into this track and the promotional video is a small sample of the quality and creativity to come,” Water Spirit said. They also hinted at creating a music video for this track, as they “want to continue to expand the visual world of Water Spirit as well as the sonic world.”
