CANVAS Lets Loose Three-Track WAKAAN Debut EP, ‘Untamed’

DJ CANVAS solidifies her reputation for experimental sounds, continuing to blur the lines between dubstep, freeform bass, and everything in between.

DJ and producer CANVAS has spent a few years spreading her love of bass to the masses. Based in Atlanta, she’s honed her craft and worked hard to perfect her special blend of body-shaking, punch-you-in-the-face bass. Untamed is a reflection of that. Out now via WAKAAN, this EP comprises three tracks of the unfiltered sound that makes late nights so special.

Untamed encapsulates CANVAS love of bass music within an EP. It’s high energy, full of music that never lets up. “Cut Loose” opens the EP and sets the bar with crushing, hard-hitting bass. It’s a dancefloor annihilator that combines both dubstep and freeform bass.

Sandwiched in between two heavy sounds is “What You Started,” which features the seductive lyrical stylings of Caroline McQuaig. Her voice blends well over the dark soundscape and wobble bass. Rounding out the album is “Afterhours,” a collaboration with WilSun that offers deep, late-night vibes that can help keep the party going or even wind the party down.

Untamed is a love letter from CANVAS to music. It’s an homage to what shaped her, a glimpse into the artist she is today, and a look at where she’s going.
