Brazilian Energy Shines Through In Ribguga’s Dirtybird Debut EP, ‘Brasil’

Ribguga showcases the heat coming out of Brazil’s underground in his new EP, Brasil, with Balanka and Carvalho. It’s available now via Dirtybird Records.

Dirtybird‘s 20th anniversary celebrations just got a touch of color and rhythm straight from Rio. Rising Brazilian producer Ribguga has made his label debut with Brasil, a two-track project that bridges his country’s vibrant underground sound with the imprint’s unmistakable bounce.

Brasil sees Ribguga team up with two of its namesake country’s must-see growing talents: Balanka and Carvalho. The combined energy of this trio makes for an EP that feels infectious, raw, and somewhat wicked. Both “Talkin’ Too Much” with Balanka and “President” alongside Carvalho form a playful moment between groove and grit. Each track embodies its own personality, but both come through with the a sharp and mischievous energy that defines Ribguga’s sound. It molds perfectly into Dirtybird’s offbeat ethos.

The artist’s knack for texture and movement has already earned him attention from respected names such as BLOND:ISH, Claptone, and Solardo, and Brasil only continues to cement Ribguga as one to watch in the global house scene. For Dirtybird, the EP also marks another step in deepening its connection with Brazil. The label has long championed South American innovators like Bruno Furlan, Cour T., and DJ Glen, and it’s doubling down with Flight Week Brasil, a multi-city tour and writing camp spotlighting the region’s talent this December.

With Brasil, Ribguga delivers a statement as much as a debut. The EP lends further credence to the notion that the next evolution of Dirtybird’s sound might just be born on Brazil’s dancefloors.
