Nomad captures DJ Snake’s deep respect for global music culture with a remarkable list of features, including Dillon Francis, Travis Scott, Future, Damian Marley, Peso Pluma, and more.

DJ Snake continues to reign supreme for his ability to reach every corner of the world through his music. The Parisian DJ and producer is now releasing his third studio album, aptly titled Nomad —a 17-track love letter to global music culture. The project features an impressive array of global collaborators, including K-pop’s Stray Kids, reggae icon Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Grammy-nominated Afro-house artist Bantu, and hip-hop stars Future and Travis Scott, to name a few.

The album was first announced at DJ Snake’s historic, sold-out solo show at Stade de France, and fans have been waiting for this slice of worldbeat to drop so we can gobble it up. At its core, Nomad offers a diverse track list spanning reggaeton, Middle Eastern street music, and baile funk, encapsulating DJ Snake’s musical journey and highlighting the blend of cultural diversity and creativity that has defined his sound.

I grew up surrounded by people from India, the Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East. That mix shaped everything I heard. “Nomad” is a tribute to that upbringing… always moving, always learning, always blending what the world has to offer. “Nomad” goes beyond an album tracklist.  It’s a cultural statement.

DJ Snake

That cultural statement begins with the album’s title track, “Nomad,” a mesmerizing intro with tantalizing instrumentation that prepares you for the journey DJ Snake and his band of world-class features are about to take you on. The worldly underlying vocals fused with the smooth and slow tones are ripe for the influx of international track picks.

As listeners groove to “Noventa” featuring J Balvin, both the base and, by extension, your hips begin to awaken and quake. This tune is representative of the reggaeton soundscapes that DJ Snake has become known for, serving as a true testament to staying true to your roots while on an ever-evolving journey that is life.

The features continue throughout the middle of Nomad with back-to-back-to-back appearances. Bantu joins on the high-energy afro-house track “Company.” Bipolar Sunshine enters the mix in the softly-sung “Paradise,” a standout single that DJ Snake dropped at his sold-out Stade de France show, which is a spin on Phil Collins’ “Another Day in Paradise. Then, there’s the widely discussed collaboration with K-pop group Stray Kids on “In The Dark.” The latter serves as a powerful cross-cultural moment, merging Stray Kids’ emblematic “mala flavor” with DJ Snake’s multifaceted sonic elements to make for a chill, body-rocking track.

“We met last year at the 2024 Gala des Pieces Jaunes in Paris,” DJ Snake said. “We immediately knew there was more to come… I’ve always been amazed by the K-pop scene, so to now collaborate with these guys who have had such an impact on this genre is an honour.” It is these moments on Nomad that further epitomize DJ Snake’s evolution from a young Parisian producer into an artist who stands as a shining example of the global form that music is becoming and should continue to morph into.

Not only does Nomad take you on a trip that provides clarity on just how powerful music can be, but the album also serves as a roadmap to the importance of staying true to who you are, no matter where you are. The debut of DJ Snake’s bass-driven alter ego, The Outlaw, on “Final Fantasy” offers listeners a glimpse of another side of the complex artist. Combining crunchy synths with cascading heavy bass and melodic lyrics that are sure to be rocking the tents at upcoming festivals, much as The Outlaw did at Escape Halloween this year.

Before dipping back into solo cuts “Cairo Express,” “KIKI2000,” and “U Are My High,” DJ Snake smacks you in the face with “Bam Bam“, a collaboration with reggae icon Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley. The track promptly induces a whine, pumped up by the upbeat undertones and the captivating vocals Marley lays on thick.

Finally, we have to touch on two tracks hip-hop heads have been waiting for: “Something Wrong” with Don Toliver and “Tsunami” featuring Travis Scott and Future. Both are callbacks to DJ Snake’s hip-hop roots, all while perfectly meshing the rawness of dance music without overpowering the other. It’s all compliments here!
