Rinaly teams up with an all-female cast of vocalists to deliver a dose of trance, techno, and a flourish of drum and bass on her debut album Ecliptica.
While the trance scene is filled with legendary artists who have sat atop the genre for decades, there’s a swelling community of other artists who are looking to make their mark and shake up the sonic landscape. One of those artists is Rinaly, a Japanese DJ and producer who has captivated the community for years with her dynamic soundscapes, brimming with energy. Over the years, her music has graced labels ranging from Coldharbour Recordings to FSOE, but for her debut album and biggest release to date, she’s taken her talents to famed imprint Black Hole Recordings.
Ecliptica, Rinaly’s first long-player, is out now across all platforms and prominently displays her production prowess. Found inside is the duality of her sound, as she offers everything from soaring trance moments to banging techno grooves, acting like an artistic yin-yang that you’ll find yourself coming back to again and again. Yet that’s just the surface of the album, as there’s plenty of added depth found throughout.
For years, I wrestled with my mental health, experiencing both the beauty and the brutality of life. I faced some of my darkest moments, and making it through felt like witnessing the dawn after an endless night. This album is more than music; it is my story, my survival, and my way of sharing that passage with others.
Rinaly
Although there are some standout solo tunes layered throughout Ecliptica, the collaborations truly leave a lasting impression. Rinaly worked with a crew of all-female vocalists for the tracks on this album, looking to the likes of Christina Novelli on “Set A Fire,” Linnea Schossow and H4lo on “Too High To Fall,” Julie Thompson on “Running,” and Clara Yates on “Oh Fragile Girl.” Additionally, “Anywhere” with Brienna Grace and “Echo” with Cari are also both delightful.
You’ll find your hands in the air when tracks like “Echo” grace your ears, while other tracks on the album, like “Ignite” and “Sidereal,” deliver doses of techno and psytrance energy into the mix with their own larger-than-life soundscapes. To shake things up even more, “Home” with Donna Tella caps off Ecliptica in style with a flourish of drum and bass for a final punch of energy.
