‘Archangel’ Marks KETTAMA’s Debut Album with Hard and Euphoric Energy

KETTAMA releases Archangel on Steel City Dance Discs featuring Fred again.., DJ HEARTSTRING, Interplanetary Criminal, Prospa, and more.

There’s something euphoric about the harder sounds layered across trance-like vocals, and KETTAMA knows the formula well. For the last ten years, the Irish DJ and producer has been racking up projects like “Rok The House” and “Pretty Green Eyes.” Now, with Archangel, Galway’s finest has shared a 15-track, rave-fueled debut album with his fans.

From the get go, it’s clear that this is an album devoted to hardcore energy and euphoric release. Abrasive sounds collide with hypnotic vocals, breakbeats add grit, and a moody, yet euphoric undertone carries throughout every build and drop.

The G-town artist ensures those harder sounds and dreamlike vocals shine through in tracks such as “Yosemite” featuring British producer Interplanetary Criminal, which samples the classic “Need to Feel Loved” by Unclubbed and Zoe Durrant. Then, there’s “Fade Away (Its a Feeling),” “If You Want My Heart” with trance-dance music duo DJ HEARTSTRING and Sydney-based KLP, and “It Gets Better.” This short list of gems highlights KETTAMA’s flair and signature sound.

When listening to songs like “Archangel” with producer and writer Sølv, “Split in Two Minds” featuring Irish DJ seantommy, and “11th of January,” you’re transported to those rare moments of pause. They evoke feelings of observing your surroundings and feeling a profound sense of gratitude for experiencing something in unison with the crowd.

Beloved producer Fred again.. and Sydney band Shady Nasty carry that same energy into “Air Maxes,” and the album includes a remix by KETTAMA that adds just enough of an extra kick to make the track feel different. And with “Take Me,” “Man With A Second Face,” and “Gotta Have It,” he infuses breakbeats with deep, bouncy grooves that help keep the energy flowing during those late, warehouse peak hours.

What sets this debut apart isn’t just the production. It’s the attitude that radiates through every track, and the raw emotion it provokes. On “Do Not Go Gentle,” KETTAMA channels intensity and euphoria, before Prospa brings their signature energy on “I Believe,” leading seamlessly into the pulsating, hard groove-driven “Sort It Out” featuring Clouds to close out the album.

Archangel arrives as a well-rounded project that plays with the ’90s rave era: energetic, underground, and about the culture. Every drop, every build, every rhythm carries the weight of KETTAMA’s DIY hustle, the grit of his Galway roots, and the optimism of a career taking flight on a global scale.
