Audien Makes Hearts Flutter on Sophomore Album

Audien explores themes of romance, nostalgia, heartbreak, and more on his stunning sophomore album, First Love.

Progressive house hero Audien has long been a household name in the dance music community. From hit tracks and remixes to incredible performances, he has stolen the hearts of a global fan base while championing a style defined by its emotion-fueled lyrics and sweeping melodies that infect the mind. In 2019, Audien delivered his debut album, Escapism, which encapsulated everything there is to love about his sound. Now, he’s crafted even more tunes for fans to feast their ears on with his sophomore album, First Love.

First Love is now available via Armada Music and features 12 tracks, each packed with Audien’s signature blend of emotive vocals, electro-pop elements, and light-hearted progressive house melodies. You’ll find yourself urged to dance away to these tunes, but upon a closer listen, you’ll find plenty of depth in their lyrics that touch on everything from falling in love to heartbreak, all wrapped up with a touch of nostalgia along the way.

First Love is a collection of songs that helped me through the last few years of my life. It’s wild to create something that ends up healing you in the process. This album is a love letter to everyone who’s stuck with me and to my first love, dance music. I’d be nothing without you.

Audien

Those who have been following along with Audien’s releases over the past two years will see some familiar singles find a home on First Love. “Wish It Was You” with Cate Downey and “One Last Dance” with XIRA were first released in 2021 and 2022, and both have been rinsed by him in sets ever since. Others, like “Living in Color” with Jeoff Harris, “Bittersweet” with Shallou and Rosie Darling, and “One More Thing” with ARTY and Sara Davis, arrived more recently as the album began to take shape.

A new single, “Make Me Forget,” leads the album in style, with Audien teaming up with singer-songwriter Skylar Grey for a collaboration that’s a match made in heaven for longtime fans. Grey’s sultry vocals pair perfectly with the piano melodies and synths that Audien layers behind them, providing a soundscape that will leave you breathless. “It’s easy to let yourself doom scroll into oblivion and get caught up in the troubles of the world,” said Skylar Grey. “I wrote ‘Make Me Forget’ about wanting to just forget about it all and have a good time, even if only for one night.”

“Cold” with Fred V and Oaks is another standout on First Love. This previously released track sees Audien hang up the progressive house hat for a brief minute to dive into a drum and bass-fueled ride that provides some proper energy to keep you rolling into the album’s final few tracks. And if you’re looking for a track that perfectly encapsulates the nostalgia-inducing sound that Audien has championed, put “Love Again” on. This track brings TELYKAST and Lilly Ahlberg into the mix for a house ride with soul-touching vocals and melodic moments that are fit for the mainstage.

First Love doesn’t just showcase Audien’s production prowess and passion for progressive house; it also highlights the maturation of his sound and his abilities as a collaborator. It’s a great album from start to finish, and one you should give a spin, whether you lived through the Golden Era of EDM or simply want to vibe out to some quality dance music.

Give First Love a listen on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay tuned for more from Audien by following his social media channels.
