German techno label Fckng Serious celebrates their tenth anniversary by playing sound roulette and releasing a dice-rolled compilation featuring three tracks by six artists.
German techno label Fckng Serious — the brainchild of high-tech minimal producer Boris Brejcha — has commemorated its 10th anniversary with the release of a new three-track EP compilation, Ten Years. It features six different artists: Ann Clue, Moritz Hofbauer, Deniz Bul, Julian Wassermann, Frieder & Jakob, and Brejcha himself.
Instead of following a rulebook, the label threw caution to the wind with its “Compilation Dice Roll,” a playful pairing method that matched six of its talented producers into three unexpected duos. The result? A trio of tracks that don’t just reflect the past ten years of Fckng Serious, but celebrate its past decade with creativity, playfulness, and an artist-first ethos. It’s a real reflection of the label’s roots since its 2015 inception.
Opening with digital clicks and fractured loops, “CPU Goes Wrong” by Ann Clue and Moritz Hofbauer dives headfirst into the chaos of machine error. Leaning fully into its metaphor, the track mimics a central processing unit (CPU) spiraling into malfunction. It feels unpredictable, glitchy yet oddly hypnotic. Jittering synths and fragmented rhythms throughout the track don’t just suggest a computer crash; they embody it. Can you put me on the guest list?” followed by the punchline: “It’s going to be me, plus 100,” playfully nodding to the title. With Boris Brejcha’s high-tech minimal framework layered over Frieder & Jakob’s melodious house sensibility, the result is a song that balances a danceable beat with commentary on one of dance music’s most universal headaches.
