After burning out in 2023, ilan Bluestone spent time in the studio to get his creative muscle back in gear, with the result being his latest album, Ignite.
One artist among those in the Anjunafamily who has continued to wear his heart on his sleeve over the years is ilan Bluestone. This Anjunabeats stalwart has established a name for himself throughout his career by delivering emotionally charged performances and albums, Scars and Impulse, that showcase his influential roots and passion for nightlife. Now, he’s completed his trilogy of albums on the Above & Beyond-led label with the release of his latest work, Ignite.
At its core, this collection of tunes is a look into the window of ilan Bluestone’s mind as he battled with the tolls of touring. After releasing Impulse, he embarked on a lengthy run of shows, which didn’t give him much time to recharge and reload. However, once he returned to the studio, he regained his creative momentum. This led to him breaking from the norm, working with fresh collaborators, and more, with the result arriving in the 15-track body of work.
There are darker moments on there, but ultimately ‘Ignite’ is about the emotions and experiences that spark us into life. Writing these records felt like a weight coming off my shoulders, and I’m hoping they inspire others to tackle and overcome their challenges in life.

Ignite isn’t your typical album from a trance artist. Instead, ilan Bluestone shakes up expectations to pack in a dynamic range of soundscapes to entice listeners. Tracks like “Africana” with EL Waves, “Slow Down” with Gid Sedgwick, “Mewo Fie” with Jonny Bluestone, EL Waves, and Pieter T, and “The Waves” with Ellen Smith showcase his versatility, touching on everything from afro house and melodic house to dance-pop and beyond.
Giuseppe De Luca is a frequent face on the album, gracing tracks like the Italodisco-fueled “Move All Night,” the indie-inspired slowburner “Turiya,” and the stripped-back “This Town.” Not to mention “Tethered To The Flame” and the album’s title track, which brings Maor Levi in for a dynamic ride of its own.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t any trance on Ignite; its influence is layered in throughout. That said, prominent moments include “Heaven Needed You More” with FiL Straughan, “Last Man Standing” with Ollie Wride, “Safe & Sound” with Natalie Shay, “Pause & Breathe” with Diandra Faye, and “Paradise” with ALPHA 9 and H.E.A.R.T.S. These tunes all feature plenty of energy, strong vocal performances, and melodies that will sweep you off your feet.
