Freakquencies: Volume 1 kicks off The Dare’s dancefloor-focused EP series and highlights the harder side of his legendary party sound.

If you’re into the raucous, now-legendary New York warehouse parties that are equally gritty and unpolished, then you’re probably heard of Freakquencies. Presented by the solo project of songwriter and producer Harrison Patrick Smith, also known as The Dare, the event brand has become an epicenter of a new downtown nightlife movement in recent years.

Since releasing his debut album, What’s Wrong With New York? last year, The Dare has earned critical acclaim, propelled by his global hit “Girls.” He embodies a glamorous yet recklessly unapologetic spirit, widely hailed as a defining figure of the indie sleaze revival. With Freakquencies, The Dare has created more than just a party. He has built a community that cuts across the underground, uniting indie and electronic fans, nightlife misfits, and even the fashion crowd all under one roof.

“These four tracks were made for and spun at various Freakquencies parties around the globe. They marry some of my latest and greatest loves: French touch, big beat, electro and acid. Whatever gets you there.

The Dare

Now, The Dare is set to unleash the sonic extension of his parties with the EP Freakquencies: Volume 1. Across four tracks, the project immerses listeners in pounding bass, kinetic chaos, and pure adrenaline.

“Kick“ builds on tension and release while “Modelizer“ crackles with jagged synths and spacey textures. Then, “Tambourine” unleashes raw vocals layered with an intense rush before “Exhilaration“ drives forward with relentless rhythms and darker beats, pushing the dancefloor deeper into overdrive.

The Dare continues a packed summer of festival appearances worldwide, including in Reading, Leeds, Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, and more. He is trailblazing more than just music. His work reflects his deep cultural understanding of community, and his art is designed to amplify the ecstatic energy of the live experience.
