Chris Lake’s ‘Chemistry’ is the Album We’ve Been Waiting For

Chris Lake has dropped his long-awaited debut album. Chemistry is a masterclass on his two decades of house music influence.

After two decades of turning dancefloors into portals to higher dimensions with grooves that move the body and the soul, Chris Lake has finally done the damn thing. The house music legend has delivered his debut album, Chemistry, a project crafted with intention, emotion, and just the right amount of untamed energy.

Out now on Black Book Records, Chemistry hits like the vibrant hues of sunrise after a night of pure magic. It opens every door of Chris Lake’s sonic landscape with underground textures, euphoric vocals, edgy percussion, and a touch of melodic tenderness. It’s a carefully curated potion of grit and soul that was never rushed, and always intentional. Tracks like “Falling,” a collaboration with Bonobo, reportedly took more than ten versions to get just right, becoming the emotional apex of the album.

I’m really proud of this collection of tracks. I wanted to create something cohesive that still allowed each track to live in its own world, and doing it on my own terms, through Black Book Records, made that vision possible. There’s no label influence here — it’s entirely self-funded and independently released. Releasing my debut record on my own label is scary yet so incredibly rewarding. It’s like two decades of work all come together on this release.

Most of the tracks were also created through handpicked studio collaborations, including a powerful feature from his wife Aatig and a long-overdue reunion with Alexis Roberts. Chemistry pulses with genuine connection, bringing the album title to life with authenticity. It’s not about algorithms or hype — just raw, electric chemistry, the human kind.

Singles like “Ease My Mind,” “In My Head,” and “Savana” have been the highlight of this summer’s hottest dancefloors. However, most of the tracks on this LP will be brand new to fans at the time of the release. It’s a bold move in the era of pumping out singles for streaming numbers, which speaks to Chris Lake’s sheer confidence in his vision.

It’s in the high-paced percussion of songs like “Reach For You” with UK-garage rising star MPH. It’s in the sultry vocals of Yael Watchman over the punchy piano chords of “On & On.” It’s in the hypnotic beat that pulses through your veins when you hear the throbbing bass line of “Memories” for the first time. Each track tells its own story, with its own style, keeping listeners on their toes, tapped into ebbs and flows, leaving the mark of a true artist.

Chemistry demands listeners to come to life on a crowded dancefloor, and come this autumn, that’s exactly what fans will get. The newly announced Chemistry Album Tour will stretch across 13 venues this fall, delivering extended sets, exclusive edits, and a full-scale production to match the magnitude of the music. And in true Chris Lake fashion, there is heart behind all the hustle. For each ticket sold, $1 will be donated to Oceanic Global via his partnership with PLUS1.

Feel the chemical reaction with each pulsing beat by streaming Chris Lake’s Chemistry on Spotify or your preferred platform, and keep your eyes peeled for ticket sales, exclusive insights, and more in the coming weeks!

Based in Southern California, Jackie grew up with a profound love for all things dance music. She found a home in the festival scene and realized her dream of pursuing a career in music and event production at just fourteen. Over the years, she has worked in various facets of the industry, including writing for various media outlets, managing social media at Audio San Francisco, organizing local events with Burning Man, and working as artist transportation at festivals like Life Is Beautiful. She fell in love with Anjunadeep during her time at Audio, with progressive and deep house encapsulating her heart. However, her music taste spans far and wide, so you never know which side of the festival grounds you may find her at. When she's not bopping around a festival, you'll likely find her behind the decks as DJ JAKLŸN.
