Vincent Channels the Golden Era of EDM on Latest EP

Vincent returns to his roots and explores sounds from the golden era of dance music on his latest EP, CHROMA, which is out now via Dim Mak.

Vincent has been on quite a journey in the dance music scene since first emerging over a decade ago. His early years were defined by bass-fueled releases that hit hard, but he’s meandered through different sonic realms over the past decade. More recently, Vincent embraced massive mainstage-ready sounds while continuing to layer in emotive vocals and melodies that pang deep in your soul, all of which culminated in his latest EP, CHROMA.

The tracks on CHROMA are rooted in Vincent’s artistic journey, which led him back to the tunes that made him fall in love with dance music. “There’s something about big sing-along melodies and over-the-top happiness that I can’t shake,” he shared. “The feeling of holding strangers in your arms, screaming those melodies under the bright lights… it calls to me. Chroma is my response—tying those moments and feelings together. The euphoria and ecstasy that the ‘golden era’ embodied with a modern sound.”

Out now via Dim Mak, CHROMA features six tracks filled to the brim with bold synth melodies, evocative vocals, and other uplifting elements that were hallmarks of the golden era of the scene. “Surrounded” kicks this one off with plenty of vibrancy that helps turn back the clock with its euphoric melodies and soaring vocals that give you a warm hug and fill your soul with bouncy energy.

Previously released single “Good Time” sees Vincent team up with Josh Rubin for a track that will remind you of the positive energy and fun-loving nature that dominated the scene over a decade ago. Similar vibes arrive on “Take Me Home” as Luma enters the fray. This one has even more explosive energy with its electro-twinged beat that you can’t help but bop your head along to while the piano keys that are layered in for added effect really hit the spot.

“Desire!” is one of the best tracks on the EP. This solo gem from Vincent features plenty of energy from the jump as its trap and future bass elements collide with house-driven grooves that will surely have crowds losing their minds. Nevve joins in on the fun for the EP’s penultimate tune “Falling Stars,” which carries those melodic bass elements that became Vincent’s signature with a modern twist.

The EP’s final track, “Love Me Now,” is a slice of the golden age of EDM at its finest. Female vocals call out to listeners from the beginning during the soft intro, yet as you sing along with the lyrics, it builds into a melody that places you right back into the kineticFIELD crowd at EDC Las Vegas circa 2012. It’s a fantastic finish for this impressive EP, and will leave fans craving more euphoria from Vincent for some time to come.
