Blonde Maze is Back with Stunning Sophomore Album

in New Releases

In her latest album, Second Sight, Blonde Maze explores the ever-changing nature of love and how heartbreak can lead to genuine connections.

Multi-faceted artist Blonde Maze has quickly taken the indie-electronic scene by storm. Past years have seen this New Yorker drop off gorgeous soundscapes on labels like Armada Music and Monstercat, but her biggest home has been on Enhanced Chill. This sublabel of Enhanced Music is a perfect fit for Blonde Maze, who has embraced a signature style dripping with soul-stirring melodies, melancholic lyrics, and chilled atmospheres.

In 2021, Blonde Maze released her debut album, Something Familiar, on Enhanced Chill. Now, she’s returned to the imprint with her sophomore album, Second Sight, which showcases her growth as an artist while bolstering her storytelling abilities. “Second Sight captures the mind and heart’s incredible ability to learn how to love in new ways,” Blonde Maze shared. “It’s about letting heartbreak teach you what you need and how much you are able to give—so that when it comes time to love again, you can do so in the most genuine way.”

Across the ten tracks found on Second Sight are thematic elements rooted in what Blonde Maze calls a “realistic type of love.” That love isn’t the storybook type where you’re falling head over heels and in a honeymoon phase forever; it’s the one that changes from day to day and depends on that person’s own experiences and openness. After all, sometimes you fall in love after second sight, not your first.

Half of the album arrived via singles in recent months, with tracks like “Never Dream” with Attom, “To Love Again” with Lizzy Land, and “If I Stayed” with Modera helping trumpet the arrival of this body of work. Blonde Maze dropped off another stunner, “Asleep In My Head,” just before the album dropped. For that one, she teamed up with Polar Inc. and Channy Leaneagh of POLIÇA, with the three artists marrying their melodic-fueled styles together to create an intoxicatingly beautiful tune.

While those tunes helped gradually unveil the emotion-packed soundscape that would arrive on Second Sight, the unreleased ones complete the full picture. You’ll find yourself dancing to “How Far Can We Go” with Hessian, swept away by “The Thought of You” with imallryt, and letting your feelings flow on “Slow Love” with Kazmyn. A final, pensive moment arrives with “Where the Birds Go to Hum,” as Blonde Maze offers an ambient soundscape with piano notes and other serene elements that wash over your soul as the album comes to a close.

Give Second Sight a listen on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay tuned for more from Blonde Maze by following her social media channels.
