SOFI TUKKER returns with butter, a sun-soaked celebration of Brazilian music and culture, reviving crowd favorites with a soulful twist.

When one of dance music’s most electric duos trades the club for the coastline, you get butter — a jazzy, sunny new album GRAMMY-nominated pair SOFI TUKKER. Released May 16, butter, soft-spoken and warm, is like a sibling or compliment to their previous 2024 release, the energetic, playful BREAD. Get it?

After their hit with The Knocks, “Brazilian Soul,” back in 2018, inspiration took over and led the duo, Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, to record butter entirely in Brazil. They fully leaned into the influences of bossa nova, samba, and more, which are reflected throughout.

The album’s lead single, “Bread” featuring Seu Jorge, came out on May 2 as a teaser to the elegant, playful and reviving tracks to come. Then came “Throw Some Ass,” and “Spiral” remixed with live instrumentation for fans to enjoy. In addition to singles, leading up to the album release, the duo gave fans an intimate look into the project, rolling out episodes of a short-form docuseries that captured the behind-the-scenes of it all.

SOFI TUKKER will hold a special butter set at Newport’s Jazz Festival. They’ll also bring their new sound to Vegas with a residency at Wynn, on top of an already-busy festival schedule. The pair has an exciting year ahead, and with summer at the door, butter is the perfect soundtrack to a savory, sunny season that praises Brazilian culture on the dance-floor.

Give the sun-drenched tracks a listen on your platform of choice and follow the pair to stay updated on their exciting year ahead.
